....Only just missed you - the gap outside the café where the bikes had been parked hadn't been filled when I got there, with the church clock showing just after half-past. Doh! We def waited 'til after 10:30 this time, honest! Apparently you told flymo we shouldn't wait for you - he told me later. Should we have a whip-round & buy you an alarm clock ? Anyway - glad you got out for a bit. It was rather wet wasn't it ? Nothing we hadn't expected though, the forecasts were pretty good in that respect.

I have to say the rain was torrential from Basingstoke back to Farnborough and the roads were worse than the mornings escapade. I was fortunate in just getting back home from my solo ride before the really heavy band of rain hit around mid-day. I watched it on the radar, and it occurred to me that it would pretty much be following anyone unfortunate enough to be heading east, so sympathies. Even before that the standing water was horrendous and unpredictable, and in many cases hard to spot until you were almost on it. So double sympathies. Very galling that the sun actually came out for an hour or so before it set, though that did give me the opportunity to rinse the gritty stuff off the bike (which reminds me, I must put it away - it's not going to get any drier now).

Apparently you told flymo we shouldn't wait for you - he told me later. Perhaps irony is wasted on those that drink pints of pink stuff.

home, washed, fed and warmed, a bit of an adventure albeit a rather wet one, thankfully not particularly cold for this time of year so still able to have a little bit of fun.
Thanks to Martin for providing digs for the night, and special thanks to bobh for chauffeuring duties.
next time a little more sun i think.
Regards Flymo

Well Fern and I got home, really didn't stop raining the whole way. But the new bypass around Kettering turned into a 4 mile long lake. Thanks to Martin and Bob for the taxi services, the evening do was very enjoyable. We both think that cutting the run short was a good plan as the fords were getting deeper and deeper, wider and wider as the day went on.......at least it wasn't cold...

Sorry I didn't get there, but done hardly any riding since Roger's funeral, and didn't think todays weather was ideal for a re-appearence, despite fettling the bike in readiness on Friday, in the hope that the forecast might change.
Went for a very wet and muddy 10 mile run along the river instead, but was back home before the big late morning deluge (well big for us southerners anyway)
Glad you managed to have a good time while you could
Dave

Frozen lake? That reminds me of our trip to Kevo in 2014 . Where were you? Frozen river in fact - River Torne at Jukkasjarvi, near Kiruna, Swedish Lapland At 200kms north of the Arctic circle it's not quite as far North as Kevo (assuming I found the right Kevo - in Finland ?)
