HI.
I need to swap out the engine, as I have still not able to get the bike running since I have had it. I took it to a garage and they advised its 50psi down on all 4 cylinders!
If I get an engine for a later model with the oil cooler. What will I need to block off to put on a non oil cooled bike?
Cheers

Cheers just run the outlet to the oil cooler to the inlet of the oil cooler using a bit of hose and some clips! careful though there were changes made during production, not a problem if you use all the original ancillaries like the carbs, but carbs changed a TPS was fitted and the carbs became electrically heated rather than the oil heating of the earlier models, and the loom reflects this!

Yes, its just the lump im changing! I was going to do it months ago, however the other half, as lost all my keys to all 3 of my bikes, so not been able to do anything. Ive found the spare ignition, so I have driver out the seat lock to remove tank etc.

50 psi max on all four cylinders should stop it running. But pumping to 150 psi instead of 200 won't stop it running. If it's the latter, the chances are that its nothing to do with the engine but everything to do with sparks or carbs.

I have new carbs that have been stripped cleaned and rebuilt put in there. I have new coils and plugs also fitted in there as well. garage said this most likley cause, he had it a few days and didn't get it firing right. Only other things are coil/pick-up but the cost of these, I may as well drop a new low mileage engine in there. The guy I brought it from ran it with water in the fuel, so I think maybe rusted rings up as well, so cost of a re bore etc, may as well just swap engine out.

Steal the bits you need from the old engine.

I have to change the locks and tanks etc on 2 bikes, one of them I cant seem to get a set on ebay (86 CB350) Angle grinder as got the engine mounts out. I am just spraying the rear swing arm now, so I can put rear wheel back in and lay the bike down.
