Hi My bike got very wet last winter and the ignition switch got very corroded, so I bought a new switch. Unfortunately I bought a switch for a newer model but I still want to see if I can get the bike started to see if there's anything else wrong with the bike before spending anymore time on it. So my questions is two-fold 1. can I short together any of the terminals/wires in the two connectors coming out of the switch to start the bike? 2. which wires should in connect between the old ignition system and the new one to get the bike started? My bike is a 96 diversion 600. The original ignition switch has two red plastic connectors inside the headlight (picture attached). The bigger connector has two wires (red & blue/brown), the smaller has 4 wires (blue/red, blue/black, blue/yellow, blue) (pic attached). The new ignition switch just has one 4 wire connector. with wires (brown, yellow, blue, orange) (pic attached). Can anyone advise which wires from the old six wire connector to attach to the new 4 wire switch to get the engine to start? Thanks Duncan Attachments:

Try google "yamaha diversion 600 wiring diagram" you should be able to work out which is which model by the wire colours.
