Finally I get everything back on the bike. The sump still drips but only a couple of drops overnight. The sidelights decide not to work, loose connection soon soldered. Great now I can have a test run. Oh no I can't, the bloody clutch doesn't work. The lever moves and the pressure feels spot on but the plates obviously aren't disengaging. Any ideas please. The time of anglegriderment draws near.

This is on the replacement engine/ clutch?
Not a long job to whip the pkates out and sort 'em. Perhaps they've just stuck because it hasn't been used?
Either way, whip the plates out and if needed you can put your old ones in.

Thanks. The plan is to get it MOTd then sell it. There's not much point in having two similar bikes especially when space is lacking.

I know this is a long shot, maybe I'm lucky I haven't had to do clutches, but I recal having fitted a timing chain tensioner to a V4 Honda, after I put it back together it refused to go into gear. The rod that activated the linkage wasn't seeting properly , Otherwise how about liberal applications of plus gas or even WD40?

Otherwise how about liberal applications of plus gas or even WD40? All the external bits are working properly. It's a clutch case off job I'm afraid.

Yep tiresome but you stuck with it through thick and thin. Hopefully you will reap the benefit at selling time.

Hooray we have 6 working gears (happy dance). :-) The plates were stuck together. Washed the friction plates in white spirit and emeried the metal plates. Now all that remains is the MOT

Top gear on the D9 is under geared it needs wider spaced cogs or a 6th.

The 900 has a good spread of torque. Even better with free flowing exhaust. It cries out for taller final drive ratio or a 6th gear.
