Time I thought for this bike to get it's own 'run what U brung' thread . Fitted a rack today - perfect size / fit, as you can see - need to reposition the indicators yet but you can see how this purpose-acquired (from the back of the shed) rack has a recess just the right size for an adventurer's essential extra fuel can:

With how far back that rack appears to sit, if you put any substantial weight on it I reckon you'll be wheelying (word?) everywhere! Gonna fit some little wheels on the underside of it?

How much torque has been applied to the nuts on the shock? Nice green lane bike. Cool.

How much torque has been applied to the nuts on the shock? I'm pretty sure Ian will be packing some threadlock . Nice green lane bike. Cool. Pity it's going to be used for 'touring' . Repositioned the rear indicators this morning - now it looks like a proper m40man machine :

At least the rear light is protected if you do wheelie and with a rack like that you could carry a Puch or a C50 or whatever lol

could those indicators not stick out a little more? it looks about 6ft wide! TBH I had hoped to attach them to a narrower rack I had - but the following arrangement which would have allowed that wouldn't fit in the shed anymore ....

What's the rack fitted to other than the top shock mounts? it looks to be fixed to sky hooks!

What's the rack fitted to other than the top shock mounts? The original indicator mounts - it's good for carrying at least two feather pillows, or one pillow & a change of socks.

I think that as the KE100 is clearly in need of no fettling, that we should just concentrate on making personal insults to the (1) current owner! (1) I say current owner because I think he should move it on to me eventually!

Did a bit of fettling today. De-coked the head & piston crown, cleaned the spark arrester, took the exhaust off & found one of the studs came adrift. Sorted that. Piston crown wasn't too bad: Heasd was a bit worse - no pics, as my hands were a bit grimy. Gave it a scrape with a wooden clothes peg then a bit of a polish with Autosol. Back together, it sounded a little crisper, not much. Did no harm though, which is always good & never guaranteed .

Have you converted it to 12v yet?
Did you quench the copper head gasket before refitting, or did you replace?
And what about torquing the head?

Gave the carb another (better!) clean at the weekend. Couldn't get the main jet out ( its a 'press-fit' - some bugger must have pressed it hard!) But the rest, all to bits & cleaned. Back together, it runs much better now. Admittedly at the mo' using a CB750 spark plug .

I think we need a handicap system, I was thinking that when roger was coming along, that roger was the handicap then, so I was thinking that the KE needs a handicap of about 12 stone, how does that sound Martin?

Going on how that rack is fitted, all his clobber will be for sale at the start, just after he set off! Anyone want to buy a cobbled together tool kit, and a worn tee shirt, with "you can keep the meat, but leave me the two veg" on it?
