Apparently I need to check coils primary and secondary circuit resistances. The problem is - where are the coils?

Under the tank, bolted to the main frame piece, one either side. Mind you, it's highly unlikely both coils would fail at the same time, so if you have no sparks on any cylinder I doubt it will be the coils.

Hi I had the same problem . No spark at any of the cylinders. Got the coils tested. Left bike into work shop they had it ten days. It turned out to be the ignition switch. Hope this helps. Mel.

Hi Mel The ignition switch got very wet and corroded. I took it to pieces & fixed the corrosion. I assume I fixed it ok, because the engine turns over. When you had problem with your ignition switch did the engine turn over ok, but not fire?
Thanks
Duncan

Hi Duncan. Was away on Holiday just back. Yep the engine turned over ok. But would not fire up. As far as I can remember the garage had to cut two wires comming from the ignition switch. Mel

Ignition switch has many separate contacts if some were corroded it's likely others are faulty. Make sure all fuses are ok. Switch on ignition set kill switch on and see if you have power at the igniter box. Run a hot wire direct to igniter. If the bike runs its Ign switch or kill switch.

just had this problem. could you elaborate on the 'run a hotwire to the igniter' advice.
from where do you run the wire, positive terminal on the battery ?
where does the other end of the wire connect ?
Do you mean the CDI when you use the term igniter ?
