Yes, it's a moped! No pedals though, a kick starter. It's more than twenty years old and was the mode of transport for my son and for more than six years it's taken up space in my shed since he moved to Rennes getting more dusty and rusty by the day. So I've taken it apart, cleaned everything; repainted handle bars and silencer; replaced seat, some cables and petrol pipes and put some red grips on it. Here's the power unit......wow! To get the real feel of the machine how about this for cables! That's a choke lever under the left/rear brake lever and a decompression lever under the right/front brake lever. The speedo is calibrated up to 120kph! (It does about 30kph) I'm quite proud of it.

I love that it has the RACING decal - suggesting that there is also a smaller, gentler, slower version available for the nervous rider.

The 'bike' has been sold. No gain after the purchases and effort but it leaves a hole in my shed for the new bike!

Why on earth does it need a decompression lever?

Err, to stop the engine. It doesn't have an ignition key. It's quite absurd. The only thing from preventing you from driving it away is a key operated rod placed through the swing arm and 'spokes', but then you can pick the machine up and walk away with it!

That collection of cables on the handlebars is quite something. I can't see any foot rests either, where do you put your feet?

That collection of cables on the handlebars is quite something. I can't see any foot rests either, where do you put your feet? I'd be putting mine on the foot rests which I can see in the top pic. (Look again - they're further back than you might think - bear in mind this whole thing is quite small, so you have knees down and feet back.)
