A fundraiser was held in support of the local air ambulance, this weekend, in the form of a bike run from west Cumbria to Scarborough, with the option to overnight, but what bike to take, I had no knowledge of others that planned to attend, or the rout, so I needed something interesting at low speed as well as high speed! Me my brother mike and some friend of his agreed to meet at the fuel station in Cockermouth, I got their first! My brother arrived, late as usual, why is he always bloody late! I did say Breva's so Mike was going to use his Breva 750, He can be my wing man! Eventually his mate and girlfriend turned up even later than Mike cnuts, One of those proxy triumph things! Some of the bikes doing the run were strange, but others just plain dull, Some of them were wearing superman outfits, I just wore the greatest man who ever lived clothes, My brother quite liked this, until I called it a gayabusa, complete with abs and power reduction button!

There were plenty of canardly davidsons, some even looked ok, not all girly like this one! Not to be outdone this Kamakazy was more hardly than the hardleys, I kind of guessed that it weren't going to be a fast run, despite the ridiculous clothing, One of the hardleys started banging it off the rev limiter, followed by the hyabusta guy, one sounded like someone throwing a tool box, the other like someone was making another superman suit, I will let you decide which was which!

We stopped at the services at scotch corner, to fill up the hardleys and smoke some tabs, one of the organisers informed us that they were selling sandwiches from the back of a car, cheap with all proceeds going to the air ambulance, well they were about the worst sandwiches you could ever imagine, tesco value thin sliced bread, with basics meat or cheese, no butter, they were cheap, but FFS I am not a snob, but they could have charged twice as much and made decent sandwiches, but it filled a hole, yes someone managed to make a dullsville even duller by making it a 3 wheeler! After mulling around talking old bloke borroks, We set off down the A1 towards Thirsk, FFS is that the best they could do, about as interesting as an un interesting thing, from Thirsk I got stuck behind one of the cannardlys, who never knew you could overtake cars, eventually we got to Sutton bank, and it went wide on the hairpin and charged up the hill past him, We stopped in Helmsley dunno why my bro parked so far away, I did suspect flatulence, yes that is him hiding behind the bollard, Where as we were the jam packed on the car park, It started to rain, so me and my bro left the group and charged to Scarborough, we got a bit wet, but not to bad, after filling with fuel we found the guest house where my brother booked a twin room, remind me never to let my bro book guest houses again, what a dump, all the other guest houses in the street looked fantastic, ours was drab dreary and dull, the guy who booked us in, looked like he had just been released from prison, it was clear that most of the customers stopped there because it was cheap and there was no where else available, it was well basic, still it was only for one night, time to fortify the coffee with a tot of brandy! We went out and hit the pubs, and got pisshed, tea was surf and turf, followed by Apple crumble, washed down with carp beer, that carp I eventually drank lager!

Sounds like you had a whale of a time Goes to show the benefits of local knowledge on the runs organised by the YDC members doesn't it? Least it was all in a good cause.

Did I mention that the guest house was carp? Not only that, we had a room at the very top, on the third storey, no en suite either, and every time you wanted the loo it was down a flight of stairs, my brother made the night more interesting by snoring the 1812 overture repeatedly, come breakfast time which for some strange reason had to be 7.45 am, we were asked if we wanted cereal, on asking what cereals they had, we were informed it was cornflakes or weetabix, this made us a bit apprehensive as to the standard of the breakfast, but it turned out to be better than expected, note the quality salt feller! We eventually escaped the guest house while we still could and went down to the pier, where we had arranged to meet the others, only their breakfasts were at a more reasonable time, so we did some looking around, then had a coffee eventually the others turned up, we had planned to go to Whitby, but they all wanted to leave and we wanted a coffee, so they went and we stayed, The two of us then set off for Whitby, the weather was a bit dull and overcast, and Whitby was deserted, well compared to when I was last there it was, not being a bank holiday weekend, There was a few interesting vehicles, a steam powered bus, After a coffee or two thoughts on what to have for lunch fish and chips seemed popular, so

We thought this place would do, How much! Never mind I had planned to stuff my brother with the bill, It was quite busy And it turned out to be very nice! Unfortunately it was me who got stuffed with the bill, A few random pics of Whitby before we left, We then rode through many a shower to Thirsk stopping for coffee and to plan a rout avoiding the A1, after coffee we headed for Northalleton then onto Catterict and then to scotch corner, rain, sun, cloud, rain, more rain, more more rain, sun, rain, make your effing mind up weather, we had to stop off at Penrith for a KFC pish, then the little Breva needed some fuel, in calculating fuel consumption the little breva did 63mpg, whereas the big one did 53mpg, the better fuel consumption of the little one was not enough to Match the capacity of the big ones tank, Then home!

Neil Reposted as it disappeared somehow It was an import, probably a Japanese import, the uk ones had a fixed headlamp, I assumed that it was a 750! It was as rough as a badgers, but was running ok, clocks were not origoinal!
