I know someone who would have sold you one. Brakes falling off your bike and VT500's, has a familiar ring to it, though I can't think why at the moment.

Wow - a young man of some taste & sophistication . Should be an interesting restoration - more interesting than mine, anyway .

I said I would never restore another BMW, just a little clean I said oops double oops it's a disease I tell you! Gearbox is off to get a rebuild, engine will have a top end rebuild, and be upgraded with 1000cc barrels and pistons, other than that it will be done on the cheap, I have already painted the frame using rustoleum and a brush!

Are you adding the SMA to your cuppa in the hope of growing a bit taller?

Looks good! I think you should of had the frame powdercoated though Been there before, if they get to good, it's spoils the enjoyment of riding it, this one is strictly to a minimal budget, the last Beemer I did! This one will be mechanically solid and tidy, but no better and all done within £1300 and that has been hit by needing to get the gearbox rebuilt!

Are you adding the SMA to your cuppa in the hope of growing a bit taller? Fook off, it's not that big, I can get both feet down, This will be the mk1 rebuild, later on in a couple of years it will get another more involving one, including some lightning by removing the fairing bars and console, replacing with a digital console, round light and off road style headlamp fairing, then re painting, Maybe even think about a rewire then using one of these motogadget.com/en/electrics/electronic-control-box-m-unit/m-unit/m-unit-digit-tastersteuerung-u-sicherung.html

Fook off, it's not that big, I can get both feet down, Martin should invest in one of them, would tidy his VT up no end. (And double the value of it)

Oh dear... "The m-Unit V.2 is the 'electrical heart' of the motorbike. All switching operations are completely digitally controlled by a microprocessor and the latest solid-state technology" Sounds like similar technology to an alarm system.....

Sounds like similar technology to an alarm system..... Yep, another spawn of the Devil Think I'll stick to old school wiring, switches and relays for the time being. I look forward to the running report if anyone gets round to fitting one.

As is fuel injection, or even the relay box in a Suzuki, cdi, You wouldn't have any bikes with those would you?

I look forward to the running report if anyone gets round to fitting one. It only uses a few wires compared to normal, and has auto resettable fuses, I think you can work everything with about 6 wires, so less joints to corrode, they are well tested in the Dakar rally!

Not that I'm suggesting you fit that description, but some on here do.

I have to say the look on 2 year old Connie's face when her dad wheeled his 'new' bikes into 'her' garden said it all. If only I'd got a photo of that. I have to say Martin's VT wasn't half as bad as I'd imagined. I was really tempted by the CB750, if it wasn't for the fact Yvonne would have kicked my ar5e round the block I'd have been taking that home too. Though she probably would never have noticed the difference between that and the GS850, kicking my own ar5e now. Good to see Martin and the current contents of the emporium, that TRX is a peach, though I'd never be able to fit my ample proportions into that seat.

With all the acquisitions of late you and junior are fast becoming the Arthur Daley's of the north, steady on, you'll be taking over the Want'age Worriers mantle if your not careful.

With all the acquisitions of late you and junior are fast becoming the Arthur Daley's of the north, I only have 3*, how many have you got ? Jr also only has 3, if you can call the latest acquisitions bikes. *2 riding bikes of different styles and a project, seems ok to me.

Tips on getting "project" passed Mrs Mud & any ideas what I should get Neil Simple, you tell her how much peace she's going to get when you're otherwise engaged in the garage. As for what to get, something you hankered after in years gone by and never managed to acquire.

Tips on getting "project" passed Mrs Mud & any ideas what I should get Neil A good tip is to buy something the same colour as one of your existing bikes. By the time confusion has subsided, you can declare "Oh that old thing - I've had it ages ". Best not used every other week, or the penny will drop.
