After looking around for a decent 4 into 1 pipe and and realising the choice is limited and expensive and what I have found on ebay has been a tad rough I hit upon a thought (and yes it hurt) or as Charly Croker would say ' Hang about lads,Ive had a great idea! '
A few years ago I had an fzr 400 and the header pipes and the collars that go into the head were about the same size. Also the angle of the cylinders seem to be the same. (this is purely from memory)
Soooo, daft as it sounds, would a set of fzr or yzf headers fit onto a 600 Divy even with a bit of modifying? Has anyone tried this before to make a decent 4 into 1 ?
Another reason for my idea is manufacturing ease and costs by yamaha. Would it be feasable that they used the same size collars to ease manufacture therefore use the same diameter pipe for the headers?

Try and see but will it be any cheaper?
The Divvie 6 has stainless downpipes. Get an exhaust builder to make some 2:1 link pipes and fit aftermarket exhaust cans.

Yeah,I thought about going down the 4 into 2 into 1 route but my header pipes are in a rough state. They are useable but unfortunatley they have been in the hands of a lunatic who thought they could weld and are somewhat bodged and butchered. However, the aftermarket end cans idea is a possibility and Ive been looking at some re-packable 'cherry bomb' stubby end cans on ebay,it just depends on the state of where the pipes merge together (the bodged part),come the weekend I may take them off and take a closer look. Anyway its a possibility that is yet to be explored.
Maybe I should of mentioned this earlier but Im doing up my Divy on a shoestring budget hence my idea for a cheap 4 into 1 and its only going to be a work hack at the end of the day,it aint going to win any beauty competitions!

Used header down pipes will be very low cost. You then need someone like Andy at Xtreme Stainless Hixon Stafford.
Don't bother with repackable cans - they are likely to be way too loud.

i bought a 4-1 adaptor thingy off ebay a few years ago but no silencer. i got a standard gsxr600 item cheap and it ran fine no probs. the bonus is that there are quite a few standard cans available as people fit the noisier ones.
