Hi All,
I'm looking to organise my first run.........
Starting from just outside Shrewsbury to Barmouth, approx. 160 miles.
I know most of the route well, but may tweak the return leg following a dry run.
I'm considering Sunday 29th June. I won't be organising a Saturday run as its a reasonable run for me just to the start, which will also be the finish - Dinkys Dinahs, The Layby,
Shrewsbury, SY5 9LG.
Meet at 9:30 for a 10:00 start.
If anyone is interested please let me know and I'll get it on the run sign ups page.
Cheers Vaughan

Sounds good, though in the current climate I think there will be more of a tendency to run away from the seaside

I'd say it's a strong possibility - I haven't been that way round that loop for years, always seem to go the other way round for some reason

I would probably be up for this run. I also may need to find B&B nearer to the start.

Might give this one a go as it seems there is not to be a Derbyshire based outing this year. Assuming my dicky ticker is feeling up to it.

Spent many a happy holiday around Barmouth / Dyffryn in my youth. The beach we used to go to in Dyffryn is now a naturist reserve - I believe some spectacular t1ts can be seen there at certain times of the year For those of you looking for accommodation, there is a Travelodge on the Bayston Hill roundabout on the A5 just south of Shrewsbury - and there's a fuel station right next to it so you can fill up at start of the journey. It's only about 6 miles from there to the start point (and you'll probably get a better breakfast at Dinky's than you ever will at a Travelodge ) I've pencilled this one in but can't make any promises yet. If I do make it I will probably have to peel off before the end (at Sarn, and carry on to Newtown and back down the A483).

The beach between dyffryn and shell island has been an unofficial naturist beach for at least 30 years I too spent a good percentage of my childhood in dyffryn after my grandad bought a static caravan there, hope the site has become more biker friendly since I was last there Martin, you have a Pm ;-) Sent from my ST27i using proboards

We used to love playing in those sand dunes and watching the aircraft taking off from the small airfield right next to the site.

Ill either be in Chester or Doncaster on Saturday 28th.....and Ill be going to Ffos las on Monday 30th...Chester would make it easier but even if Im in Doncaster I could head off early to make the start....whats the availability of B&B's like down there ?...I wont be taking my tent as I need to be able to lock everything up in the panniers and top box while Im at the racing or I would have used the campsite ian has put the link up for.

I have now booked into the hotel below, for Saturday the 28th June ready for the start of the run on Sunday. Pub is in Welshpool roughly 10 - 15 miles from the start. They have several rooms if anyone's interested. Price is £40 per room inc brekki. Hotel owner is called Dianne and and rides a bike. There is a yard at the rear to park the bikes. www.westwoodparkhotel.co.uk/ATB

Checked-out a Barmouth chippie this afternoon, very nice too, & a pub - well, it helps to be prepared for these runs .
