Hi, can anybody help me please, I've got a 1994 divvi s and my engine is scrap. Will an engine from a 1999 or 2001 model fit ok without any messing about? I've only had this bike about 6 months / 400 miles only, so am a bit cagey about changing it for a newer model without checking first. I only have brit bikes, this is my only jap. Help please.

Yes it will fit, but they have differences, the later models have oil coolers and different carbs with electric heaters, Not insurmountable though So use your original carbs and connect the oil cooler pipes together Not that I have replaced a D6 engine though, but it wouldn't stop me of I needed to change it!

Thanks for that, I will probably give it a try then. Is it just a matter of connecting the outlet to the inlet on the cooler pipes?

Yes, bit of oil hose and a couple of clips should sort it, The earlier bikes were the best, no oil cooler, no electric carb heaters or electric fuel pump, choke under the frame, What is up with the old engine?

Snapped rod on number3 took chunks out of crankcase, bit of a bummer after 400 miles, my old brits run and run, just needed this for longer runs to London and devon for work from derbyshire. Only managed one run to London and thats that.

It takes about 20 minutes on a 98 D6. Warm the engine before removing all the tank gubbins and the petrol in the float chambers is enough
for the job.
Piece of p1$$

Piece of p1$$ Read my post again you 'ol* fool.. Could you not just scrap the oil cooler sandwich plate and keep the plate and adaptor bolt from the original engine so you wouldn't have to mess about with joining pipes together

What state is the rest of the bike - brakes, wheel and chassis bearings, suspension, tank corrosion etc, etc?
Yes, I'm being a miserable git but no point swapping the engine if the chassis is shot.

Be careful you don't get fed a 400 as they look just like the 600.

Thanks for that, how can I tell by looking at it, any distinguishing marks, does it have the capacity on the barrels or anything like that?

Fordy, we have a scrapped D6 in our back garden in Beverley - I got it as a donor bike for parts as/when required for my wife's D6 which we recently sold. I've never had it running, it's not particularly tidy, but if you want it to try/strip the bits you need, you're welcome to it for free.

Thats got to be worth a punt for the cost of delivery or even better if you can collect. Neil (the other one)

DahDit's offer sounds too good to ignore. The 400 has 400cc cast into the barrel base and the engine number should give some clues via Mr Yamaha dealer.
