Hi everyone, new to the Forum website but not new to biking. Got a 1993 Divvy 600 with some unusual gearbox noises. Bike has done only 15000 miles but bottom end has been apart. All gears select nicely but when in fourth there is a horrible noise like the gear shaft is loose. Apparent but not as much in sixth. All gears select and drive the bike but the noise is off putting. Worse when changing down from 5th to 4th but no loss of drive. Have inspected clutch and only issue was a loose nut above clutch (starter motor gear?). Main drive sprocket nut fully tight. Clutch works well but sticks when bike not used for a week or so. Semi synthetic oil in bike and new filter. Any suggestions for quietening box down? bike is the 4BR variant

sorry can't help with your problem... but might get more viewings if you place it in the general section.

Do you know it's history - why it's been apart before? Does sound related - maybe a not-100%-successful-repair job . TBH I haven't had a bike engine apart down to crankshaft for donkey's years, so can't offer much help I'm afraid . .... & don't listen to Billywhizz. The more folks who post in the right place the better, thanks . (Though this isn't the right place either .)
