Anyone got dimensions to make a damper rod holding tool? Like length and diameter?

Hi Chris Picture 1 shows the top of the damper rod that need to be held from turning whilst undoing the bottom securing bolt. It is 30mm across the points It can be undone with a hex box spanner or a standard nut. It needs to be about 27mm across the flats which give 30mm across the points. I found a box spanner which was about 25mm across the flats, This was a bit too small so I compressed it in a vice so that it is now 30mm across two of the points. (Picture 2) Make the handle about 20” long Hope this helps Ken

Hi, the dimensions stated appear to be that of an M18 nut which are available on ebay. M18 nuts are not normally used in engineering the usual size is M16 or M20, likewise the screw rod. However, you could always weld a bit of 1/2"BSP pipe to it if you have the facility.---hope this helps in the future.

Yes, thanks, I robbed some out of our stores at work and welded a T bar up. (I work in engineering :-))

I've just noticed this in the Yamaha manual Alternatively, some 28mm copper tube could be tapped into shape or file some flats onto a 1" BSP pipe.
