Hi all, after looking around on the Internet for a few months I finally decided on a xj900, as I wanted something reliable that could do big miles. my xj900 is mostly standard but it does have braided lines full kappa luggage system, tank protector and engine bars. it has 36k miles and everything works as it should, i paid 1300 for it. That seems alot of bike for the money I'm happy with that. There are a few things that I don't like, the mirrors, the LHS is a convex mirror, I don't no if that's normal but I need to change it soon. I find the screen is also to small for the bike I want a large screen for this bike, only other thing is the front suspension seems soft. but just small adjustments..

You only think green ones are faster co's you cannot see the black one miles in front! As for mirrors the XJRones fit & not to exspenvive but you need to make sure you can see backwards ok as I have very high risers on mine so that I sit upright. Hagon progresive springs as already mentioned I found very good. A very warm welcome to you; you will find a lot of help & advise on here, they are very helpful. what part of the world or uk are you from?

Welcome Grogan - it is a lot of bike for the money. Keep your eye on the centre stand - these corrode and break. Also the swinging arm gets a battering from all the crud from the back wheel. BTW - the photo - is it Derbyshire?

Its a very good bike, I have recently done a 130mile ride on it and its alot more comfortable than my last bike bandit 600.
Thank for the advice on the springs and screen, do you know the screen in this link.. is it large? there dose not seem to be any measurements on the website I'm looking for a full big screen.
The picture was taken in lancashire where I'm from just outside Manchester do you have any north uk members up here?

Looking at the picture if it is Grogans home territory you could tell he was either a whippet worrier, ferret fondler or a sheep fiddler as nowhere south & east looks as bleak as that ;D Neil PS welcome Grogan yes there are northern members & even with their short comings or for the Yorkies short arm deep pocketings we do allow them to use this site

As a Yorkshireman who's married to a lass from Whitefield you could say I have dubious taste, also reinforced by my selection of bike ;D
Struggling to reach the keyboard to type I welcome a fellow norverner to the fold, your unfortunate location is happily balanced by your fine choice of bike and forum.
Rgds,
Neil

I bought a Skidmarx Superflip - from top to bottom it is about 24inches. I am about 5' - 8" / 5' -9" tall or short and it reduces the wind noise dramatically. In fact when I had a radio transmitter rigged up I could communicate at well over 70mph. All screens are subject to your height and build, that's why they work for some people, but not others. I am from the Fylde Coast. The photo landscape looked familiar, but can't put my finger on it. You would be welcome on any of the YDC runs btw.

Well I love the new bike more and more each day I am very happy with my choice, its not the same handling as a bandit she needs a little more persuasion round the corners, and the power delivery is different.. a lot more smooth and progressive, and ongoing were as the bandit is short, sharp and then runs out of puff.
I bought this bike to put miles on so I don't mind traveling to any club meets down (or up) the country.
The screen size seems adequate and will be the first mod i do.
btw - a friend asked me the bhp of the xj9, any know what this is?
