My Oxford heated grips have lasted well but have also been a pain for slipping around the bars. I tried self adhesive aluminium foil tape to take up some space but it either rucked up or the glue went gooey so they still slipped.
Last weekend I'd had enough of the accelerator gently slipping so pulled off the heated grip. Sure enough the tape had slipped & rucked.
All cleaned up with alcohol I stuck some new baco foil over the grip with cheap super hold hair spray and smoothed it down. But hours later the foil still slipped. Hair spray no worky on this one.
I had some leftover windscreen mastic the one pack polyurethane stuff so thought give it a go. After all, when the grip fails I'll be cutting it off anyway.
I used some PVC tape to protect the inside of the bar end. On mine the twist grip overlaps by a few mm. Then made sure the plastic washer was in place at the throttle cable box end. Without that, (very) sticky goo would get pushed where no goo should go.
The mastic was smeared on the twist grip sleeve, inside the rubber grip and it was carefully slid into place. Excess goo had to be scraped off with a screwdriver before shoving it fully into place and thank goodness for the pvc tape as it would have deffo clogged the sliding sleeve without it. But it all cleaned up fine and some oil on the grip sleeve made sure any contamination wouldnt leave me with a permanent tickover.
Any mess cleans up with white spirit. But its very sticky and very back so be careful.
The previously very loose grip is now on solid and going nowhere.
The sealer can be got at any windscreen fitters. If you ask them nicely they might even let you use their quick set 2 pack and ride out 20 minutes later like they do with windscreens.
The one pack polyurethane is about £10 a large tube so a bit OTT just for bar ends, but its really handy stuff where strong flexible bonds are needed. I originally got mine to refit the sill skirts on the car and had loads left over.
