I've been a die hard Bridgestone fan for the last few years but after been rather skint this year due to short time working thanks to the recession and with my bike in need of new rubber I went for a pair of the above Maxxis £120 per pair plus fitting. Now i know they're from china blah blah blah and i wasnt really looking forward to them to be honest BUT after putting a few miles on them Im really quite pleased!!! Besides being skint eastwood the other thing what swung my decision was the fact Maxxis sponsor the TT races and the travelling marshals use the sport version and they give em some real hammer!! I had them fitted before I went over to the island and Ive been really pleased with the outcome. I managed to put 6 hard laps of the TT circuit in (before it got busy) and they never faulted. But the big test came in the wet which again I couldnt find fault with them. Im not saying they'll suit bikes with lot of horses but for the 900 and my wacky sytle of riding they have been a real pocket pleaser just makes a change from paying £200+ of BT's

I also bought a set of Maxxis for my fazer 600. I have done roughly 800 miles on them and have no worries about them at the moment. Stick well enough in the wet or dry. For the price I would buy another set when needed.

I got one off ebay for 10p and hated it.... but it was 10p so well worth the money I have heard very good things about the sports ones, mind, and may well be fitting them next

I put a pair on the 900, found them fine IF I put 45psi in the rear instead of 42psi - they handled a bit weird if I didn't. They tend not to wear particularly well by all accounts, but I agree. Excellent value for money tyres that perform well in all conditions. Many others will disagree - it's a tyre thread I'm about to change from a RoadPilot 2CT on the rear to a new Conti Road Attack 2. For the hell of it as there's so few reviews out there at the mo' ;D

Ooh goody a tyre debate!
I had Maxxis Supermaxx on my D9 when I first got it. I used to think it was a trait of the bike to have to be forced into corners.. Then I got a new set of Metz Lasertecs.
It was like riding a brand new bike, I didn't realise the detrimental effect the Maxxis was having.
Now then, the rear Metz has (well) outstayed its welcome and now the entire 3" centre bead it tread free - (although I must say... it sticks like sh*t to a blanket on a dry, straight road), so, can anyone recommend anything else before I go and chuck another Lasertec on it?
Please bear in mind the lasertec will be staying on the front, at it is fine yet.

I quite happily mix tyres, and have never had any nasty effects. As per my previous post, I did go and buy a set of Maxxix Supermaxx Sports - got them for £124.95 delivered (120/70 front, 180/55 rear) and fitted them saturday morning. Not had a chance to scrub them in yet but the profile promises quick turn-in and a mate with a gixxer thou reports 5000 miles is achievable from the rear (although he doesn't do motorways, he does spend a lot of time on the back wheel and is very, very fast even with his missus on the back)

Fitted secondhand Front Maxxis Supermax on my D9 this morning, still got nice round profile so not done many miles.. went out for a quick spin and did about 40 miles all dry roads.. first impressions very good, turns in easily, very stable and seems to offer good comfort too, plenty of grip when braking... then again after a 7 year old worn out michelin... anything would be an improvement!! Looking forward to a proper test on Sunday ;D

Sean,
Got those on my D9 great tyre wet or dry. Went to France last week-end through torrential rain no problem.
I'll be buying again, seem to last at least as well as Contis.

DK motorcycles £120 delivered! cheapest I've seen.
But am not impressed with the milage of the maxxis, last rear only got 3k outta it on a D9 :-(
and I've done 1400 miles in a matter of weeks on the new one so I'll be looking to get another soon.

you must be joking! The front tyre is fine (at the moment) just the rears, not lasting 5 minutes. Measured the lastest rear and at 1400 miles theres only 2.6mm of tread left

Many others will disagree - it's a tyre thread I don't disagree, it is a tyre thread Neil Well I think if you can see the thread the tyre is knackered. I've just had a set of Dunlops on the Hornet, why didn't you post this earlier.

Chris - riding too hard?.... maybe not...it depends on where you are wearing out the tyres ie middle of tyre or outer edges?...and what is your predominant road use ie motorway or country roads??
All my riding is mostly motorway...so mine square off with nothing much off the sides. In saying that, this morning the M1 was shut between 29 and 30 (I get on on 29 and head north) so I went up to Clowne today and thoroughly enjoyed the country roads...gotta do more of them to stop the middle flattening out me thinks!!

My love affair with the maxxis is coming to an end............Excellent tyre all round apart from it being soft as s***. After doing another 2800 miles Im close to being on my 3rd rear tyre to 1 front and theres still quite a bit left in it so you could possibly get a 4th rear to the front which in my calculations isnt very cost effective Compared to other more expensive brands they arent that cheap when your spending £75 buying a rear every couple-o-3 months. Great tyres wet or dry, just not cost effective for everyday commuting. Bring on those Michelins!

Chris, I have covered 2200 miles now and just measured the remaining tread in the centre at 4.5mm Perhaps the roads round my way are smoother

I have the sports one on my ZX-9, they have about 2500 miles on them and they have around 3mm left in the centre of the tread.Would be more but for lengthy runs on foreign motorways.I'm no Rossi, but I don't hang around *too* much....
