To have what every pensioner needs sometime on the road ;D No prizes to the local crew for guessing this local Or this one, There's a good tale to tell in the pub about this wee outing, 3-4 pints should drag it out of me. (I'm nothing if not cheap )

Is it that layby that is over looking Faslane on an old military road?
We stopped there on a Scottish run a few years ago.

Beatiful country side - been up Scotland a few times over the years from Plockton (yeah very Scottish sounding I know... I know) to Ullapool (very hard and Craggy area) though I don't know much of the East side above Hawes east and upwards....
I must return again - good for the spirit!

I have to complain about the loos, the paper was rough and not pink The 2nd pic is Finnart Oil terminal where very large tankers come in. They used to bring in most of Scotlands crude oil which was piped over to Grangemouth refinery on the east coast. Now North sea oil comes the other way, and is exported from Finnart. Below the tree line is Glen Mallan jetty where munitions and stores are loaded into Royal Navy supply ships, (RFA). The track I was on runs parallel to the fence round the munitions dump in Glen Douglas. About 200 yards before the loos a white 4X4 appeared heading towards me, with blue lights on top MOD police We had a long chat, very friendly, and having removed my helmet to show them they were dealing with a daft OAP, they left. A black HiLux pick up appeared with a crew cab filled with guys in camouflage and face paint . I followed them down to the turning point at the loos and it turned out to be Army recruits on training, (on how to deal with the midges!). We had a blether & they disappeared into the trees. The driver got back into the truck and headed off after moving his very large automatic rifle into the cab. Had he heard there was a nutter about on a traillie? ;D All in all a fun day Thanks for moving this thread Dave!
