Having a bad technology afternoon.... :computersmash: see following Your browser is currently set to block cookies. Your browser must allow cookies before you can use Windows Live ID. Cookies are small text files stored on your computer that tell Windows Live ID sites and services when you're signed in. To learn how to allow cookies, see online help in your web browser. When looking at browser settings it says allow 1st and 3rd party cookies so cant see what the problem is, was working this morning but afternoon its not..... I havent requested to use Windows Live ID as far as I know and problem only occurs when trying to access hotmail account... feeling a bit of a numpty but getting very frustrated with the $%^&*( Thing!!! ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) All sensible suggestions appreciated. Hi Chris All I can say is my settings are set to medium, which sounds as though yours may be. I have looked through the rest of the settings but can not see anything anywhere that might affect it, sorry. Just hang in there I am sure someone who knows what they are talking about will turn up shortly. Good luck

Chris, i cant really help you other than tell you to go into Tools, Internet Options and Privacy right at the top of the page, but if its any consolation i set up another hotmail email address a couple of weeks ago and had nothing but problems with it myself. Seems like these days signing up automatically sets you up for these Live ID sites so i abandoned the idea pretty darn quick.

Chris,
You did say you'd checked your firewall settings didn't you!? If not, try turning it off and load the page, if it works then you know its the firewall that's piddling about...my Zonealarm does it all the time!

:computersmash: Thanks for the replies folks, not quite sure why when it was working this morning no problem and has been for months but now have to set privacy settings to minimum when previously medium was fine!!! I havent messed with any settings updated any software so somebody somewhere just decided to make my day awkward!!! Havent even let the kids near it as thats a guaranteed way to immediate meltdown!! Lets see what tomorrow brings... printer/copier has also decided not to copy this afternoon after a month of copying happily so I must be giving of bad vibes... :ohdear:

Roight.... as you've allowed 1st and 3rd party cookies.... have you got the 'always allow session cookies ' box ticked ? if not, try it. BTW, what browser / OS you using ?. Could well be your firewall - are you using a gyppo freebie like Jools ? If you have XP and you're running ie6, try downloading ie7 . Or use firefox.

I converted my Hotmail account over to the new windows live mail last year sometime. Same email address but just looks a bit more like MS Outlook when you access your emails thats all. Eventually everyone that uses Hotmail will end up converting over probably. Anyway they obviously launched it way too soon before it was properly tested.... (typical Microsoft).... it's been OK lately touch wood but sometimes it doesn't let me access the account at all. When it does this I have to delete all my temporary internet files and all my cookies. If you've not already done so upgrate to IE 7 or even use another brouser like Firefox which is pretty good and more secure.
Not sure if it will help or not but worth trying as it works for me.

Jools Could be a Firewall setting like the judge says.... I too have intermitant problems with Zonealarm blocking pages all of a sudden for no reason at all. Usually when this happens I shut down Zonealarm and all is OK again. BUT you shouldn't leave yourself connected to the net with no protection at all... at least have the firewall that is already built into WinXP running.... that's better than not having no firewall at all. This can be found as follows.... Click: Start.... Control Panel.... Security Centre.... Windows Firewall and then a little box comes up on the screen.... make sure that the "Recommended" option is actually selected. :computersmash:

I have Zone Alarm proo and my XP firewall turned off so they don't clash in some way. I reasoned that Zone Alarm is way better than the XP thingy anyway so why bother with it.

I agree, but as I frequently visit MIRC chat then I needed some form of protection [1] so that's why XP Pro firewall remains on.
[1] Not the kinky sort of protection that all you men have to undure! ;D

I've got a proper hardware firewall. No probs at all - wouldn't trust the XP one or zonealarm... As for needing protection in MiRC, it's the other way round ! everyone else needs protecting from Jools. ;D
