Was thinking of going for a toodle from central to Glastonbury but having a 'half way' stop for the night, was thinking Blackpool or york area, however having checked the map anywhere near the M6 and M5 areas would be good, would ideally like the cheap bed only option but would consider takin a wee tent and doing a campsite stop, any ideas /recomendations welcome

Rather than diverting so far away from the main M-way route that you're taking, why not look at the Yorkshire Dales, or heaven forbid, Lancastershire ;D Both York and Blackpool are a fair trek off route from where you're destined. How about Hawes? A slightly shorter Diversion to a market town with plenty of B&B's.... the famous "Buttertubs Pass" - which Clarkson always has to "pi$$ on his brakes" after driving over - it runs north to Thwaite, where there's an excellent tea shop. Check out the Green Dragon pub & Hardraw Falls too on the way. Hawes is at he head of "Wendsleydale". Or, there's an excellent road that takes you further down the valley towards Aysgarth, more waterfalls (where Robin Hood Prince of Thieves' quarterstaff battle was foughtand filmed - Kevin Kostner playing Robin this time....) A few places of interest where you can stop not too far off route. Good roads, scenery and plenty of B&B's. Rgds, Neil Sorry, couldn't find a decent bike vid, but the roller-coaster ride that is the Buttertubs by Scoobydoo....
