Guys,
can anyone help on this?
I try to take out the needle jets (emulsion tubes) to check thorouglhy and clean if needed.
The carbs are Mikuni BDST26 (xj400s) but its construction is the same like Mikuni BDS28 (xj600s).
They are the ones with the black plastic diaphragm caps...Year 1991 (same design like D600's year 1991-92).
I unscrew the 8mm (correction: 6mm) bolt on top of the needle jet (bottom of the carbs - inside the float bowls) but i can't figure out how to take 'em of.
Haynes manual says that i need to pick 'em out with a pair of pliers from the side where the needles go into them. They don't seem to move out...
What i'm missing here?

Beat me to it.... they are a press fit, so do need a light tap to pop them out. Are they nice and round ?

Hi General, they appear OK. Some of the main and idle jets partially clogged though (found 1 idle jet completely clogged). I'm currently doing a complete carb overhaul...I'll post some pics of the tricky parts in due time...
