Did anyone fail? Charlie Yes failed my first one in 1976, but passed a few weeks later with a better examiner First examiner was a notorious woman who failed more than she passed and asked me to do my u turn halfway down a bridge over the river leven. It wasn't very wide and I was that busy watching for traffic flying over the brow of the hill I went up on the pavement on the other side. I had long hair then and I could tell from the look on her face when I turned up for the test that she would take great pleasure in failing me

Took mine in Sept 1980 on a Yamaha RD 250. The guy just went and stood on one corner, made me ride 3 times round the block one way then 3 times in the opposite direction. He even told me next time round he would step out so I could do an emergency stop!!. Half a dozen highway code questions and I seem to remember a couple on bike maintenance??. Shortly after I had the all important "pass slip" in my hand.
