Master baking is very therapeutic. (So I've been told). Be careful you don't strain your wrists!

Good to see that everyone is doing ok on here. I'm very lucky, working from home on full pay but with around 20% of my usual workload.
I managed to get the bike out of hibernation last week, it was in the in-laws garage for winter and they're fully shielding so it wasn't a priority to start dragging things out of their garage early on in this. Did a long overdue oil change on Tuesday and had a little ride out yesterday as travel to beuaty spots is now allowed. Good news is that the oil change has stopped the bit of clutch slip that I had in the autumn.
Lots of bikes on the roads yesterday, particularly on the classic Dom tour through County Durham up to Barnard Castle. Everyone I saw was riding sensibly too which is good. Bikers got a load of bad press in the N Yorkshire dales earlier in the month for riding like loons and then gathering in Hawes, though I suspect it was more down to hysterical local journalists and a couple of nob heads with the majority behaving themselves.

Most of my work is with schools and colleges, until they're back in full swing there's only so much content that can be prerecorded. Until they're back on site I can't even do "live" remote sessions.

So, things got been going to plan. About 10 miles after I was just riding over to see my family, as in a socially distanced coffee, when he a loud bang followed by sliding back end. Turns out this had happened: linkNot sure if you can see, but the remote preload 'popped' off .... not so bad .... you might say.... except the its a hydraulic preload which uses..yep oil, which went over the back wheel causing the slide. Sounds dramatic, but could have been a lot worse. Cant see any reason for it to pop off, no damage, cant see anything that hit it. So its back with the manufacturer to sort out

Was that setting 11 on the knob? Could have been nasty, not something you except to happen.

Was that setting 11 on the knob? Could have been nasty, not something you except to happen. Haha, just a half turn as i recall. Remember it being a bit tight to turn. All sorted now, replaced with a non remote - just dialling it in setup wise, but feels a 1000% better. Been for a single 3-4hr ride since and it was SO GREAT to get out. More bimbles being planned ... Ive never spent so little time on the bike this year.

Update on my coping methods.
Got the TRX back on the road after 3 years sitting there looking at me. Sold the MT03. Currently working on the CB750FC, to get it back on the road. Quit my job.

Congrats on all counts !
Being self employed, quiting the job isnt an opton for me but I now call myself "semi-retired". I had hoped that a couple of Friday rides would convince me that it was worth keeping the bike (223 miles in the last 12 months !) but even weekday riding is struggling to re-ignite my enthusiasm so the bike's going up for sale 😭

Are you now one of the retired,or do you have something else lined up ? Our office in Bourne End is to stay closed, so those of us with an office-based contract are entering into a consultation to make sure we're being catered for when working from home. I've been working from home 4 days a week for 9 years, so I doubt it will have much of an impact. As to what I've been doing now we're out of lockdown, I've finished stripping the gloss paint that the previous occupier painted an external wall with. Patched up missing render, and ready to paint in a week or two. Also stripped the stone door surround, have washed it down this morning and will be painting shortly. In other news, waiting for Jools' new bike to have the tracker fitted, then I can have a rumble around on it - it actually looks like fun

Are you now one of the retired,or do you have something else lined up ? Erm, no & no ! Company & I couldn't agree on my future there. Currently available part-time for bike polishing, nude house-cleaning, entertaining ladies of substantial independent means but questionable standards, or I guess pretty much anything else really .

After spending a while in hospital I decided to take Rolls-Royce up on their offer for voluntary severance. So I have now retired myself to a life of doing what I want to do and not what someone else wants me to do.
As I am not allowed to ride the bike at the moment, I've spent my time messing about with the guitar and generally annoying the neighbours with some heavy riffs.
I've also set myself the task of sorting out the garage and turning it into a decent workshop where I can make something small from a large chunk of wood.
I also have quite a lot video footage and plenty of time to edit it. So here's one I rendered earlier today.

Martin - you are such a tart "Quit my job" Well done, hope everything is shaping up OK. I did the same in October but then soon afterwards a snowball / domino effect started, oh boy, did it! Am trying to take a leaf out of Ogri's book i.e. Stuff everything, I've always got my bike!)

Well, well, well. After hours, days, no; weeks of hiding away in the office (designing & Printing) and in the garage (Building & Painting). I've only gone and made myself one of these.
Still got some way to go before it's finished; but it's getting there.
Got to flat the clear lacquer off and polish the body. Dress all the frets
Paint the front face of the headstock. Coat the neck in finishing oil. Bolt the neck to the body
Then fit it out with electrics and furniture (all in black) and string it up.
Body is 3D printed in PLA and spray painted.
Neck was bought as a blank with a paddle headstock and is Maple with rosewood fretboard. 22 frets, 25.5 inch scale.
The first one isn't finished yet and l've already made a start on designing the next one ready for when i've turned the garage into a workshop,

Nice job Dave but they have too many strings for my liking and they are a bit thin.

Cheers Roger.
No plans on selling them. They will probably get handed to my granddaughter when she's old enough and if she wants them that is.
Prefer the bass eh Ed.

All good bands need their percusion section.
Bonham & Paul-Jones. Ward & Butler. Moon & Entwistle. Baker & Bruce. Taylor & Deacon. Spencer & Kael.
Just to name a few

Nice work, Dave! Since quitting work I haven't achieved very much! Still doing some work on the CB750, which is now MOT'd. Treating her to all-new brake parts as passing an MOT doesn't necessarily mean they are any good. Other than that, been witness at my brother's wedding, where there were as many officials as guests (3 to be precise, including me!) played a little snooker & generally messed about trying not to spend too much of MrsM40Man's money .

All finished and tuned up and it sounds great. My first guitar build. Yes there are bits I can improve on for the next build, but all in all I'm please with it and that's all that counts. Now the plan was to take it up to my mate Andy (who is at Page Level) so he could give it the beans for a sound check. But we could possibly go into national lock down for a month on Thursday, so that's going to have to wait a while unless I can get up there before Thursday.

I took it up to Andy's today and he put it through it's paces. It sounds absolutely fantastic in the hands of an expert.
In Andy's words. "That is one decent guitar, the playability is superb". "Do you want to sell it?" "If not can you build me one?"
Praise indeed, I felt rather pleased with myself.
So I'll have something to do over the up and coming lock down building another one.
