I'm planning to ride down on the Saturday morning - but I hardly qualify as "Northern Group" - not in your terms anyway.
I haven't seen any mention of a Saturday afternoon rideout but if anyone else is interested I could probably find the Garmin route from a previous visit to the little airport with the cafe that we've been to a couple of times for WWWs

Would that be the one with the Vulcan? I'd like to see it :-) Never been up close to a Vulcan, although a former workmate worked/flew on them so heard plenty stories !
Looks like they also have a Nimrod now - XV232 ?
That could be an idea for a tour...visiting all the ex-RAF gate guardians in the UK... There is also a Nimrod at Manchester I think?

I'm guessing you mean Wellesbourne (as in years before 2014), not Coventry airport (as in 2014)? But I'd be content with either .

Having looked it up there are 20 complete Vulcans left,15 of which are in England (click on link) the last flying one XH558 "The Spirit of Britain",now grounded @ at Robin Hood Airport, in its original hanger, is the one featured in the recent Guy Martin TV program. There is also one at RAF Woodford near Manchester where they were built I apologise for not posting about a repeat of Guy Martin's Spitfire, as I only saw it on the index an hour or so before it was transmitted, 22.00 Monday, On More 4,another fascinating program with the likeable Bike Nut.. If you have access to the All Four Player, that can be found under "Factual", then if you go to Last Flight of the Vulcan Bomber, (if you haven't seen it before its definitely worth a watch, as I am now doing in the wee small hours), and then see people who also watched and you can find the Spitfire program in there too. This probably should really be in the section started by Bobh about the Vulcan. However the venue mentioned is in the list link as is Duxford which I suggested a possible ride out to. Having driven a few times on disused airfield near St Maws, from a young age in any car I could muster fellow farm house holidaymakers, and owners of other than VVs, to congregate there, and let yours truly drive their prides and joys.) on one ocassion my Dad took me there in our new 1967 VV, there was a go kart playing about therein and a Shackleton was directly ahead of that family car and Go Kart seemingly low enough to be about to land, fortunately not on that old runway. Later Comet based Nimrods replaced the Lancaster based old timers, and on a last proper holiday staying at a Hotel in Porth Newquay, 1991, just down the road from RAF Saint Morgan then finding a nature reserve and troutery on the River down to the Estuary, were able to watch those amazing planes from there. I saw a program about transporting a Canberra down to the formerly disused airfield near St Maws , wherein there is now a museum, and have considered going down there to check it out. Only put the bit quoted by HRH in here as an answer to above and also out of respect of the fact that the Vulcan thread had culminated in some sad news for a fellow member. Think I'll spend more time concentrating on some bikes instead. Don't worry about it, having a dig at Trev is how we roll!

It is with great regret that I also am going to have to give this a miss due to unforeseen circumstances (JR16 isn't looking too promising either)
I have a Garmin file from the route that we used to Wellesbourne a few years ago if anyone wants it - though I guess a Google search will find the location and you're all quite capable of creating your own route(s). If anyone wants it anyway just let me know. [FWIW I don't remember there being a Vulcan there but I could well be well be mistaken, often am]

Indeed you DID park under it Sadly , an inspection of the picture confirms my memory - that I wasn't there (and I DID say I'm often wrong). I recall visiting 2 different airfields on WWW runs and I think I've been to one of them at least twice but I can't be certain of the names of either of them.

We'll be calling in at Wellesbourne Airfield on the Sunday. Haven't sorted out a Saturday Bimble route yet, but there will be one for anyone turning up in time. (Leaving the Griff at 2:30pm, to return for about 6pm.)

Martin Any idea what time you might be heading up there. Anyone else going from South of Wantage grove?? Ta Andy. I would expect to leave mine between 10am & 11am Andy. Would be nice to have a riding buddy . (But may not be fastest route, much more likely a more twiddly one, with a break, hence wouldn't expect to arrive at the Griff until about 1-ish.)

Are there any runsters stopping at The Premier Inn on the Saturday that have a spare bed in their room? Son Adam is looking to attend but so close to the event all the cheap rooms have gone. Is house trained and non-snoring

I am probably gonna have to bail, as I did Durham , York , across the Misty Moors to Whitby , Robin Hoods Bay , Scarborough, Bridlington, Hull, Grimsby , Kings Lynn , Bury Saint Edmunds and home, 24 hour by car, abysmal weather going up, realised that the person who threatened rapped knuckles if I tried doing my version of the Iron Butt(Numb Bum ) thing for charity ,so just donated myself. However she of the knuckle threat was correct and even if the old X9 crowd are doing their annual bash to Whitby, and suggested I join in on my Atlantic 500, however having had pneumonia after my heart bypass am not gonna risk it, so either I do it by car, or the room booked is going begging.

If room isn't required can Adam have first dibs?

Looks like we're going to have great weather for the weekend folks. Looking forward to seeing many for the Saturday bimble. Remember that we have a breakfast run on Sunday morning, from the Griff, leaving the Griff at 8:45am sharp. The main run departs from the McDonalds at the Griff roundabout A444 Nuneaton, on Sunday at 10:30am. Please arrive in good time if eating or drinking there. If you have an orange vest, bring it along in case we're short. Anyone not signed-up or planning to come along, dust off your bike & come tag along .

BTW of course you're short, an Orange vest isn't going to change that.
