Predator exhausts sound really well on a d6.
Not particularly cheap mind.

4-2-1 systems make better use of exhaust pulses to tune the system so in theory should give a little more power. Try Xtreme Stainless near Stafford.

My Marvings growl whereas the standard Yams 'Phutt....' Edit: They're from Wemoto and are expensive (check the price for yourself) but they fit straight on to the standard collectors and no gasket. They're also a 'can' as opposed to the smooth tapered standards. You can always paint your wheels too........!

The issue over here is road salt eating away the 2-1 collectors. But they can be replaced in stainless.

I had a 600S in 2006 covering about 10,000 miles and then swapped for a 900. Still got the 900.

If he changed to a D9 it wouldn't be a D6 anymore! Read the thread title yan101 and CD. ;D

Agreed but it's the best a great solution to the problem of a D600 that doesn't hit the spot any more. Why spend money on a bike that's always going to be a budget jobbie and worse it might end up worth less than (more or less) standard.
A clean and standard bike is easier to sell so the cash can go to to something that does hit the spot.

I'm not sure I'd look to make my bike 'better' as it implies some blanket fault in design or performance. What I've done with mine is to upgrade things away from standard, eg: Marving exhausts, round shape mirrors (only had one poor original), SS braided brake pipes. Even put some stanchion guards on it as they weren't standard for the year. Betor shock because the red spring matches my painted wheels! A lot is for cost reasons of course but I did find the colour scheme on mine drab, to say the least, especially the grey wheels. Ah, that's much better! ;D

Dave1, Since I have had my D6 I have put braided hoses on which make the brake feel better albeit not improving the stopping power much and fitted a slightly larger rear tyre and handlebar risers which have improved my riding position/posture to cope with my excessive height 6' 6" as the D6 is quite low.

I ran a 2000 Bandit 600 in 2001, good bike too. But you don't want one of them!
What you want is a Fazer 600, it's miles better than either a Div6 or a Bandit6.

Single disc 600s are better with a 1/2" master cylinder to remove the wooden lever feeling.
My mate has an early Fazer 600 its SO MUCH better than the Divvie.
Edit - The D6 is great for what it is but given the choice I would swap for a Mk1 Fazer every time. Now is a good time to sell a D6.

AHA so that is what make i have on my D6s! i did wonder as when i bought mine the full system had been replaced with them exact same pipes. and yes they do sound nice could tell by the end of the can's as they have little dimples around the edge. bloke said he paid about £500 for em? not so sure about that though as it sounds a bit much for even a full system?least i know what make they are at last.

The Mk1 Fazer 600 is great but leg room may be restricted. No leg room problems on this. 35" inside leg & short body with bar pull-backs would be fine. I have the opposite problem with only just long enough legs, but not dropped it yet.

Now is a good time to sell a D6. +1, there's an ancient thread on here from me about it: diversionclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=600&action=display&thread=7510&page=1Hagon front springs and their recommended oil make an astounding difference to the front end. FZR600 1990-ish 4" rear wheel is a bolt-on and allows 150 rear tyres safely, instead of 130. I felt added stability but that was also going from an avon to a bridgestone, can't stand avons. Check with seller it says 18x4 not 18x3.5 on it or you'll get exactly the same you already have. Honda CB (same on many many models) clutch lever has a bigger pivot, is smoother, and doesn't wobble up and down, so you'll get much nicer smoother clutch and gear changes. Pack out the drive cushion rubbers with bit of inner tube, plastic or whatever until they fit tight, again much smoother gear changes. New shock would be nice but don't mess about with sportsbike bits bodged on, they will be undersprung and won't work. Just get a new one meant for the bike. Other than that just keep it running in spec and it'll be cheap if dull to own and ride.

Amorti: "Other than that just keep it running in spec and it'll be cheap if dull to own and ride." That's one way of looking at it but some of us don't have bottomless pockets and we all don't want screamers. For some just two wheels are everything. ;D

I have had both and found the 900 is much the better bike for hardly any more money. Personally I would rather put the cost of Hagon or Wilbers fork springs into a 900. It can also take the excellent (and not costly) blue spot brakes which wont fit the 600.
