Hi everyone
I've been riding for about 6 months now so Im fairly new to riding and working on bikes.
Ive got a 1995 xj600s thats needed some work on it, mostly cosmetic, and since it came with renthal style bars I decided to take it in a bit of a street fighter direction.
So far Ive removed the fairing etc and stuck some dominator lights on it no problem, now it needs some new clocks (discovered its not going to get through the MOT with the old clocks cable tied to the handle bars!).
Initially I was looking for some basic chrome dials, just straight foward mechanical replacements for what is already there, but Ive just come across the Koso rx1n. I hadnt considered using a digital clock setup, I had assumed it would be too much modification for a beginner like myself to install a non mechanical drive from the wheel, but it looks fairly straigh foward with the magnets placed in the brake disk bolts etc.
What I would like to know is, is it actually as easy as it looks to put this clock onto my bike? Or is there something fundamental that ive missed that makes something like this modern piece of equipment on an older bike just incompatable? Ultimately, if done properly will it bring up any problems in an MOT?
I'm fairly confident with wiring so I'm not worried about that aspect, and I know this clock is probably a bit overkill with a bunch of features that are irrelevent on my bike, but the price seems reasonable for what you get and it looks nice!
Sorry about the long winded post , and thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me!
finally, excellent forum, ive been on here a few times and found straight foward answers to questions.
