Had my 2012 XJ6 diversion for almost a year, love it to bits but still not happy with the exhaust note.
Any advice on what to go in the aftermarket exhaust range? There are loads and it must be road legal. I'm leaning towards the GPR one as it's not stupidly priced and sounds and looks pretty good.
Also and most importantly, does this sort of modification void the manufacturer's 2 year warranty?
Any advice / info appreciated.
Thanks

I suspect manufacturers are like insurers - they'll use any excuse to wriggle out of a claim. Fortunately I've never had a chance to test that theory with Yamaha, though.
Not sure I'd class the GPR as not stupidly priced, though - the ones I've found are £600+.
Scorpion cans are good quality, made in Britain, and the ones I've heard sound good. And from a quick look at eBay they seem to be considerably less expensive. Most have a removable dB-killer, though if you do remove it the ECU will need remapping (or a Power Commander fitting).

Keep the old system and put it back before taking the bike for servicing. A faff, but what the eye doesn't see... Alternatively, if warranty isn't a worry, fit a full decat system and get it remapped. But check first, not all bikes can be remapped. This might be worth a look. www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=3036144

The new diversion exhaust is a one piece so an end can solution is not available.
Some manufactorers make a slip on system which bolts on where the chrome tip is, this won't make it any louder, it's purely for looks.
The GPR is a full system for around £650 on eBay and is probably the cheapest option but will invalidate your warranty and your insurance company will need to be told.
By fitting a GPR with baffles fitted, your bike should run fine, removing the baffles will lose you performance in the lower rev range so a remap would help with the loss of low down power, robbed by eliminating the back pressure.
If you do change your exhaust, just make sure it will accept your o2 sensor, some imported systems don't have any provision for them and this will give you a CEL error.
