A common problem is fingers in photos this can be easily rectified by the removal of said fingers with a sharp knife ;D

Providing you keep up to date with regular servicing, problems on a 93 model are minimal. Advantages over later model mean no oil cooler to worry about and just one brake caliper to service. Just get used to the usual clutch rattle and enjoy some low cost biking.

I was of course referring to the buffoon from 'The land of the south saxons' or bufty land as we call it up here. ;D

You two should get a room. We tried that in Oban. Clive couldn't take it & had to vacate early. did someone mention my name? Are you all called Buffoon down there ? I suspect there's quite a lot of inter-breeding.

Why don't you all get together and put a on show? Second and third reply, very positive. Beyond that it's Punch and Judy like a lot of the threads become. dave1, It's a great general purpose bike. I use mine for touring mainly and it has not let me down ('97 600N with nearly 80k kms). Better to look at the positives, reliable and comfortable. Easy DIY maintenance. Downers are superficial like the mild steel exhaust collector joint and a noisy air cooled engine. There are no big probs. but some bikes get electrical enigmas. Smaller queries are well documented here in the Technical Section. Enjoy, as they say! ;D

People like Xtreme stainless of Stafford can make up new 2:1 exhaust collectors for the 600 to replace the rotting mild steel or even fit aftermarket cans as well. Prices are reasonable, new link pipes for my 900 cost me £70. www.xtremestainless.co.uk/contact-us

Clutch thrust washers go, not much to do until it does. Same for sprocket bearings, pack out the cush rubbers if it gets there.
If it has the vacuum fuel pump they give out in the end.
Cheap upgrades - 1/2" front master off a Honda eg. VFR800 (brakes that work), 4" rear rim off a fzr600 (150 tyre), Honda clutch eg. CB500 (non wobbly lever).
Not so cheap but very worthy, Hagon fork springs.
