Today I tried to start my D600 and I could hear the solenoid clicking but there was no movement from the starter motor. After a breif bit of investigating I didcovered that the solenoid wasn't connecting internally. I shorted out the terminals and the bike started on the first turn. Are the solenoids known for this? I can get another for £10 but will have to wait till after the Jubilee

It's not an electrical wiring problem, it's the internals of the solenoid. I'm a sparky so I'm not guessing... ;D

They are all much the same but anything elderly is likely to be corroded inside. You'll know to check the starter brushes as well.

I've had sparky work need looking at again before that sort of time
