Hey guys. OK i think i know what up with my bike but i want to be 100% before i pay for the replacement part.
On Friday 13Th(yesterday) i was setting of to come home from work when my divi wouldn't start... It was clicking the relay, showing both Neutral Light and Oil light. i bump started it to get it going and the problem didn't show again until this morning when i tryed to start it again but the same problem happened.. just clicking the relay.
I have a new battery and rectifier so i know that it isn't any of them...
Can anyone help me to be sure it is the starter motor? ....
Thanks / Craig ;D

Read my reply on here, I'm guessing the same problem? It's high time this 'blue wire' jobby was made a sticky

Or it could be the brushes in the starter motor?

Peggys2012
I'd be checking the starter motor brushes - or even just a build up of carp on the commutator.
Before you go looking to pay money - how good are you with spanners? You need to take out the starter motor and take it apart and have a look at the brushes and the commutator. When mine did this it only needed a cleanup inside the motor and all was well.
What year is the bike? Mine's a 96 and you can do the whole thing and back together in an hour even allowing for a cup of tea and two 5 minute events of "where the hell did I put that screwdriver I had it in my hand".
I'm sending you a PM in a mo - check that.

Only big advice is get hold of pattern brushes to solder on yourself (or some-one who can ). My Yamaha charges the earth for the plate and brushes.....I should know! HTH
