So... project Helga is now back on (I need the space in the garage) - I need to remove the swingarm, and seem to recall it's a 24mm socket .I don't have one - access looks a bit tight, any recommendations ? Will an impact socket fit ?

Access is tight, your right. Regular sockets, many won't get in. I know I have a suitable 'slim-Jim' socket somewhere. I can root it out if you want .

Wot he said, I think I ground down an old socket to fit. You sure it's a 24, thought it was a tad smaller than that? When it stops pi55ing it down I'll have a shuftie.

I'm not sure it's a 24mm at all - that's my estimation from having a quick glance at it the other night... Want to get the swingarm off / painted this weekend, I can fit the chain at the same time and the other little bits and pieces.Paint front wheel to match the rear and then get the bugger started. Then just need to get it MOT'd and taxed and shift it on

They seem to make more broken.

It is worth it, a colleague of Jools' is after a cheapy, and she'' let him pay in instalments. She wouldn't be happy seeing Helga hacked apart, and I can't be arsed to do it If I can get it back on the road and give someone a cheap bike, then I'll be happy And I need the space next year when I buy a Tuono / Fazer thou / ZRX1200 or whatever else takes my fancy

Is it worth it ? They seem to make more broken. In what Universe ? There's little on a D6 worth more than few quid, surely? No one wants wheels, shock, forks, etc & the plastics are usually not great for the age. Maybe occasionally an exhaust is worth summat, but only if it's solid. But then you have to shift all the crap that can't be shifted, that's left behind after a break. .... and anyway it's a sin .

Hiya Generalgman, if you can find an "old" 15/16 af socket, the shoulder should be slimmer and it is equivalent to a 24mm mate.

Fairly expensive for older bikes and mostly way down South, though that would probably suit you.

GM has no doubt done this work now but......... Just for the record the nut size of the D6 swing arm bolt is 22mm.
