Hi, and welcome! The clutch rattle is not uncommon. The usual answer to this question is "they all do that, Sir". It does no harm so ignore it and enjoy your bike. Charlie

hi charlie . as i am new to the world of working on bikes im not sure if the rattle is acceptable or is loud enough to cause concern. it does seem quite loud considering new plates and springs !!! if i wanted to try to reduce it or remove it what should i look for or check. ie worn washers spring tensions etc (although springs tightened to 8n as stated in manual).
many thanks Steven :-)

Hi Steven. The clutch noise can be pretty loud!It is sometimes cured by changing the pin you have changed, and sometimes not! Is the clutch quiet when it is cold? How is the clutch bearing? When you pull in the clutch and it quietens down suggests the usual rattle and nothing to worry about. Charlie

when i got the bike it had the rattle/knocking but no clutch noise. so i fabricated a pin for a nice snug fit. replaced springs and plates. now i have no pin rattle/knocking but clutch rattle. the clutch bearing seemed ok.........

Check the tickover speed - should be 1300-1400 rpm. If it's too slow the engine will stutter and cause transmission rattle. Same thing if the cqrbs need synchronising.

Its amazing how some polish can shift the blurs and change the colour. Its looking fab, though I'm not sure the black crank cover has worked too well. I'm a fan of black wheels but on a black bike might be OTT. Mid silver powder (without the pinstripe ) could be good. BTW 1400 tickover is a bit quick 1000rpm should be ok when its warmed up & carbs balanced.
