Hi, my D6 is a bit of a pig to start if left stood in the garage for 4 or more days, can sometimes flatten battery trying to start her. Do you have a routine for starting yours if left stood for a while? I was thinking of: 1. Turn tap to prime for a few mins 2. Choke half out and start on prime then if starts turn back to on.
Is there a risk of flooding this way, is this the correct way to use prime?
Thanks.

Sounds spot on to me . You won't flood it on prime, unless you already have a sticky carb jet anyway.

There's a short article I wrote in the "tips and tricks" section that might interest you. It's fiddly but you might find it preferable to flattening the battery.

make sure all four carb choke plungers are working. That said, my 900 hardly ever needs any choke and will flood if I crank it for more than a second or two with full choke.
Do a jump lead test with a known good battery. If its on a car DONT run the engine. If it fires up ok, you pretty much have proof the bike battery is weak. Also check the starter brushes for wear.
