Folks, please help.
I'm having trouble with my fueling. My bike has a horrendous (will kill me in traffic one day if I don't sort it) flat spot between 2,5 and 3k that is worse when hot. I know it is over fuelling cause if I blip WOT in neutral I get a puff of dirty black smoke from the exhaust (unburnt fuel). I expect 2,5k - 3k is transfer from idle jets to needle jets?
Has anybody had this problem with their bike, and do you have any recommended remedies? The carbs have done 88k miles after all, I was wondering if it may be the needle and seat wear giving a poor transition. I had a similar problem on my TDM a few years ago and new needle and seat did wonders!
Thanks for your help! Tyler

thanks Bo6o I had not thought of oil from the breather clogging the carbs. I actualy had problems with the breather floooding the air box recently with oil, eve though the problem has always been there. I want to clean my carbs, and check the jets are clear. I'd also like to fit new needle and seat to the carbs from Factory Pro, the carbs have done over 88k miles! I will check the oil problem tomorrow.. Tyler

Hi, did you find any cure for the pain. Today I noticed the smoke is actually black, and it's a pain to get over 3000rpm. My carbs were cleaned and inspected 1 or two weeks ago and I still don't have a solution.

take the airfilter COMPLETLY apart and clean out ALL hoses conecting to it.
WHEN RECONNECTING THE AIRBOX MAKE SURE THE RUBBER HOSES AND THE BANJO BOLTS ARE SEATED PROPERLY AND SEALING WELL.
I hope it is as simple as that!

Done that - didn't help. How is the air/fuel mixture adjusted and is it possible to do it myself - by trying different adjustments? By the pilot screws?
