Hi there.
Earlier this evening as I was getting ready to go out for a spin I noticed that my neutral light had stopped illuminating when the bike was in neutral, not a problem I thought as it was working ok earlier today, the bulb must just be a gonner, Ill buy a new one tomorrow.
Coming home it was starting to get dark and although I have my lights on all the time, I only noticed that the aux lights were not illuminated in either the speedo or the tachometer.
Then I noticed that the tacho wasnt working either :-)
The turn signal warning lights both work and so does the high beam warning light. The main headlight/dipped and indicators/hazards stop/tail lights all work too its just the neutral light, aux lights and tacho itself thats not working.
I had a poke about at it in the dark with a torch when I got home and tugged on a few connectors, checked the neutral bulb and it looks to be ok. I checked the fuses under the seat, all of which seem ok too.
I am going to take the headlamp off tomorrow and see if I can find out whats going on and try and make it look good with a multimeter and a haynes manual but thought I would ask here first just in case it may be an easy fix.
Thanks very much.

All fixed. Removed the headlamp and disconnected everything and gave the connectors a good squirt of GT85. Plugged everything back together and it worked.

Its well worth having a dig around to make sure wires are not getting chafed on the frame etc. That maybe wouldn't cause this particular problem but it can be a booger to fault find.

The man has a point there! I had a headlamp occasionally failing (not blowing) on my 600N. Countless times I took the headlamp apart, checked connectors and plugged them back in again. It worked for a while then the lamp cut again. Frustrating. Grrrrrr! One day I traced the wires back to the headstock and found a partially severed wire there. Sometimes it connected, other times not. I repaired the break and have had no further trouble. It seems the movement of the handle bars was the trigger for the fault, the loom was being flexed at the headstock. You have been warned.

Yes indeed, message received and understood. I didnt actually tell the full story above. My 600n had at some point in its life had an aftermarket headlamp fitted due to who knows what, The wiring was a bit of a mess, all stuffed inside and behind it. I sourced and fitted an original headlamp earlier in the year and my excuse is that it was late in the evening when fitting it so it was dark, freezing cold and raining so was just kind off slapped together in a hurry and as it was working fine and passed mot I never got around to it. Anyway, yes I did check the wiring right back and got stuck into it with the pvc tape around any area I thought could do with it. Tidied it all up nicely, worth doing indeed thanks. I noticed a connector under the tank inside a rubber cover with a light green and white wires that had been taped up. I have a Haynes wiring diagram and to be honest I still have no idea what it does lol, does anybody know what this is for? Cheers here's a pic.
