As you are aware every so often we get together for an event such as BMF or the ND Soirees. This gives us the chance to meet friends, socialise and generally have a good time. We are looking to expand this Meet & Greet idea to include other things such as towns or attractions that we normally would not have the time to visit as part of a run such as Cheddar Gorge or the Motorcycle Museum at Birmingham. It could be maybe just a lunch meet at Squires, Rykers or Super Sausage or a evening out where you don’t have to get up and ride the next day. The aim is to make the attraction the focus so therefore how you get to the event would be down to the individual. You might want to get together as a group and have a mini run down or ride down at your own pace. A few might get together and travel down in the car. This would allow you to bring wives and family or friends (if you have any ). Newer members or riders who are nervous about riding in a group can attend an event and get to know us and allay some of their fears prior to attending a run. The inclement weather during the winter means that long runs are less attractive to members and, apart from the Frosty Rollocks & January Jolly, ride outs are few and far between. A few Meet & Greet events in the winter would help keep the momentum of the site going and stimulate conversation along with allowing us to get together more often. Meet & Greets will, due to their nature, probably be localised so having 2 events on the same day should not be a problem if they are a good distance from each other. I would ask however that consideration is given to M&G that have already been posted in your area before you post your proposal. If you have an idea or want to post a Meet & Greet then post a thread in the Runs & Meets Section with the thread title with Location, Date and “(M&G)” suffix ie: BMF 16th MAY (M&G). Please include within the thread a meet time along with a few details of what is happening. Please try to give a detailed meet location such as “High Street car park opposite Billys Chippy” rather than just a town name. Postcodes would be helpful. Looking forward to seeing some of your proposals for getting together.

Amberley museum looks interesting to me. Would anyone be interested in the Welland Steam Rally this time next year? www.wellandsteamrally.co.uk/I have been meaning to go for about 20 years, and finally made it this Sunday. A really good show with a wide variety of interesting mechanical stuff. Lots of traction engines of course (including miniatures), a number of fair ground rides (powered by the traction engines or by human power), old motorbikes, military vehicles, etc.

I think this is a great idea, events out of our normal area we go to in the car as my wife doesn't like long distances on the bike, But it would be nice to meet up with members of the club we wouldn't normally see. Nice one,

Would anybody be interested in a M&G at Duxford War Museum? I visited in 09 and it was a really good day. Parking is excellent and there is a good cafeteria. Should be an easy run for the softy suvverners. And indeed for East Anglians. www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-duxford

Ok, will do. I'll pop along tomorrow and take another look at parking, entrance fees etc. EDIT: Taking another look at their website there is really no need to visit, all the info is there!
So I'll say Sunday 20 May at 10.30am in the Duxford car park.
Who's up for it?

Debs & I are helping out so say hello and we'll make you a brew! A lucky escape for you, I had considered it, we're having the weekend away as it coincides with my barfday, but the great Scottish bike show is on the same weekend so Edinburgh it is.
