looking at new front tyre for xj600n 1997 got a 110/80/17 on front. Like to know if a wider tyre would fit maybe 120/80/17 or best to keepl; the same on BT45

I guess you could fit a 120 on, (though you'd struggle to find that width in a 120/80 profile ) but it'll only result in making the steering a little slower.
I'd stick to the stock size as the Divvy already is quite slow on the steering anyway. Wouldn't want to make it any worse.

Stick with standard. I tried a 110/0-17 BT45 as I found a cheap one part-worn and the bike didn't like it.
I have a spare Avon in 110/80-17. Not the best tyres but you can have it cheap. Where you located?
