hi all
I recently had a low speed spill.an unnamed van driver pulled out in front of me from a side street,I proceeded to plow into him and dropped my bike on its left hand, damaging the fairing and the left hand indicator mount, fairing mount and left mirror.
My insurance company has decalred it a cat C write off.
I'm wondering if its worth the hassle of repairing it myself and going through the rigmorle of re registering it.
The bike still runs and rides ok,the front end did feel a bit strange after the accident,I cant tell if this from any damage caused or just thinking about it too much after the crash.
I'd already spent a few hundred quid on the bike before the accident and don't want any of that going to waste.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi all I recently had a low speed spill.an unnamed van driver pulled out in front of me from a side street,I proceeded to plow into him and dropped my bike.... I'm sorry but that sounds like one of those funny insurance forms that were going around a while back, you know "I reversed into a tree in my drive which wasn't there when I left in the morning" Seriously, if you're happy with the bike after the incident, why not put up with a bit of hassle? If you're going to run it 'till it drops, (no pun intended), you'll lose nothing. On the other hand if you want to sell it on again you may get problems.

wot bike is it? that would be the determining factor. a 95 xj600s You can pick up another one for £500, then you have a whole spares bike which might or might not have bent forks, frame etc. S'up to you though, we can't decide this as we can't see the bike and don't know your financial situation. fwiw I have continued to ride bikes that I'd come off plenty of times.

it all depends what the insurance company say about the disposal of my bike.
cheque+bike=repair
bike-cheque=not worth doing
also i don't have anywhere to store a spare bike at the moment.

hi all
does anyone have any expierence of getting a cat c back on the road? i've had a look and there is only some vague information.
i've spoke to my insurance company and they'll be happy with a current and valid mot.
unsure as to the process of getting it re-registered.as far as i'm aware the i won't need to get a vic.
any advice would be a great help!

When it happened to me I just MOT'd it. It retained its registration, no need to re-register.

Up in strathclyde sometimes Dvla will ask the local Road Policing dept to go out and verify the details, eg to make sure there's not any stolen frames/engines being swapped about. Nothing to worry about.....unless you've been a bad boy
