I chopped off the bottoms of two empty Rock oil containers, punched a hole for the bar-end to go through and mounted them like so:    I tried 'em out yesterday on a 180 mile round trip in the rain to visit my Gran (Nans always do the best Sunday dinners  ) and they performed brilliantly. Am working on v2.0 now. |

Looks like its strapped on with the the heated grips wiring :doh: and can you really get thick winter gloves around the clutch lever? :freezing:

No, they're lashed on with some wire that was knocking about in the shed (I was in a rush and just thought 'that'll do'.) And yes, I can get my winter-gloved hands around the levers. The guards move, though a little more room would be nicer. But they only took 10 minutes to make, I didn't measure anything and just lashed 'em on 'any old how'. A bit more thought will go into the MKII's. |

I love this sort of thing, it is akin to my oil can hugger. If you cannot mend it with a multi tool a roll of tape and a bit of wire it ain't worth fixing.
My Motto is "If it ain't broke, I'll fix it".

Can I just say I nearly fell off my chair when I read this post this morning. The iniative shown making the afformentioned handguards goes without saying. But what did it for me is your username. Did you nick it - or is it original - well it doesn't matter cos it's bloody brilliant.

But what did it for me is your username. Did you nick it - or is it original? I dunno if the username is already famous elsewhere (I can't see it really!) but the pic certainly is. I stole it from www.b3ta.com who run a weekly 'image challenge' where registered site members, like myself, can make silly pictures with Photoshop, Paintshop or MS Paint.  The image challenge this pic came from was called 'Hollywood Dyslexia' - www.b3ta.com/challenge/dyslexia/ - and members were asked to redesign posters and titles of films with dyslexia in mind. I took the name 'The Stain' with this pic in mind cos the first time I saw it, it had me in stitches ;D I go by the name of 'badseeds' on b3ta and Livejournal where I co-moderate a BMW community. |

I don't attend the rally nowadays. Four or five of my hardy mates still go, and another four or five stay with me at B&B. I didn't mind the cold, but 9 times out of ten it was peeing it down and blowing a bar steward.
Tickets usually come out in November and do go quickly.
