The original Panniers that they made for the XJ900 diversion, can they be fitted with a GIVI Monorack in place ? I've currently got an E52 GIVI Top box and monorack in place. But I did not want to go and buy the wingrack and then a set of panniers from GVIVI (mainly cos I dont really like the look of the panneirs that they make! ). So I wanted to fit an original pair of panniers with the top box in place. Can this be done ? Has anyone done it ? If so how ?

I had them on my Divvy, these were created by Penfold, Ghoti now has the system on his. Might be worth asking him if he wants to sell the rack as he doesn't use Divvy much now. Basically Ian had attached the Krauser arms onto the side of the mono rack with bolts. See pictures below for a better clue what I am spouting about ! HTH Dave ;D

Typical, I've just recently after several attempts at selling an identical Krauser, cut it up & binned it. Didn't try to sell it on this site, I thought it was some piece of outdated tat

The registration number is clearly visible so they'll no doubt soon be hundreds of clones copping speeding convictions for you, Trev. You should be grateful - you'll be notorious .

Dave, when you say that the Krauser Arms had been fitted onto your monorack with bolts, are you meaning the Krauser Arms that came as part of the original fitting kit with the Divvy Panniers ? Or is that a different set of Krauser Arms ? Reason I ask is that looking at your pics of the Arms secuired to your bike, if thats all part of the original fitting kit then I think I am missing a part of it. Cheers

I wish I'd gone for Hepco & Becker. The Givi boxes are good, but the carrier is Pug Ugly.

This is why this forum is so useful... Someone has always tried things before. My opposite problem is fitting givi top box while existing original divvy panniers are already in place. So I don't waste £70+ on givi arms which don't fit, has anyone done this, or got a better way?

There is thread somewhere showing the side case frame I made for Givi/Kappa cases. Something similar could work for other makes of case

So yesterday I thought, I know, I'll call my local Yamaha dealer for advice. Their advice 'sorry mate, them bikes never came with pannier options'. Cheers for your help, yam dealer!

I achieve this using a Rentec rack with a Givi universal plate bolted on top of it (I think it was a Givi E250): Some people have reported issues with racks like this cracking under heavier loads but if I'm carrying that much, I prefer to keep heavier stuff either forwards in a tank bag or lower down in the panniers.

I had enough weight in panniers and top case to tip the bike off the side stand. It handled no worse than with a pillion. There was no sign of distress on the case mounting points.
