personally I think the new site is a massive improvement over the old MSN one - this one even works!
Can I add my thanks to everyone who has made it work and added all the new features?
Quick question though... Can we get it to make coffee, too?

I like the site a lot. ;D
My only negative comment would be that discerning computer users, ie mac users have been left out of the chat system. I know you can get windows for macs but seems a lot do mess around with when there are chat systems usable by both.

Ahhh... but if you have a modern Mac you can install Windows on it and have the best of both worlds! WinXp runs a dream on the Mac (would NOT recommend Vista for it though!)

The site is OK but I have to admit I preferred to look of the old one....having said that this one is super quick...not something which could be said of the old one so I think once I get used to this one I will wonder how we ever got by without it!!

I wouldn't recommend Vista full stop...... bit of a worry when you're supposed to have a 256Mb graphics card just to run the OS.

The whole point of getting a mac was to get away from the hassle of windows lock ups and virus attacks So far it's been brilliant, so I'm reluctant to sully it with B. Gates inferior products

Would it be possible to have some sort of identifier system on which posts have been added too. It makes it hard to know whether posts are still current or have died there natural death. Perhaps I can point you to a similar board www.boxhill.co.uk where they use a flashing coloured helmet when a post is still current and added too.

Ade The Boxhill site is a completely different type of program to the one here on Pro-Boards. Firstly its a Web Hosting Agent that hosts the Forum/Site. You purchase the site and PHP will host it for you and give you the tools to build your own site. (You Pay For it) The problem with Pro-Boards is that it hosts / owns / and supplies the software. (Hence its a FREE Board) They give you the basics and you can mod them but only to a certain degree. Pro-Boards give you a lot more than 90% of the other free hosts out there in Web Land but not enough to make major changes. If you look here you will see what other changes can be done: fjrsmiley.proboards77.com/index.cgiThe only thing you can do is to "Bookmark" a thread and have a look in every now and then. Just below the reply box is a line that says " Check this box if you wish to bookmark this thread." Click IN the box before you post / reply and it will bookmark the thread HTH DD Thanks Colin for the explanation (Reaper)

I used to get all messages sent to me via email. Doesn't seem to be available now.... or is it? Not as the site stands now, but if you go into your private message box at the top of the page and into preferances you can opt into having any private messages delivered to your inbox.

I dont like the edit facility as it can be open to abuse. if you say something it should stay said.
i dont like all those silly smilies that have been added on. what is the point as the basic icons cover everything that the immature may need
i dont like the amount of boards
i guess it will grow on me though

SH And who is going to abuse the Edit facility as only the original poster or management can use it, now I wouldn't have thought the poster would and I know we wont use it unless absolutely necessary instead of deleting the post (which causes even more trouble). As for the smilies you don`t have to use them if you don`t like them, others do. The amount of boards was to keep items together so that members could find them easier and quicker. Hope you do stick with it and thanks for being honest. Paul

I have already PM'd Doofer about this (and got a helpful reply), but for the record... But we do all have to wait for them to load up. It's OK for you people with fast connections and PCs, but I have not yet managed to convince the boss to upgrade the network and server at work so I can surf during work time. The problem for me is when I come to reply (like now) as you have to wait for 9 big emoticoms to come up at once. Some other sites have the basic small static smilies on display and a button to open another box for the 'exotic' ones. Can something like that be done here? And reading a thread Judi has posted on is virtually impossible I'm afraid I agree with SH on this.

No you don't, if you go into your profile, modify profile, you can choose not to see any smilies, or avatars!!

There is another way of having a load of smilies on a pro-board site. On your left in the "Message" box you can have another little box that can open up and list as many smilies as the management wish to have on the site. On the top of the reply box you just have your normal small one's. Its an easy mod to do and if the management of the site would like the HTML code to do this I would be more than happy to supply it (along with about 150 smilies contained IN the box) You don't have to use them if you don't want to and they only load when you open the box. We had the same problem so I came up with a different way of including the smilies WITHOUT having them load every time you open a new message/reply DD PS: Mag's says Hi Paul

That would be really good, thanks Colin.
I know many of our members do appreciate extra smileys, but I also appreciate that they can slow down page loading times, so anything that helps to cater for all needs are appreciated.
