Since our run out on the WWW run, Andy and me have been discussing a number of requests regarding a Derby run this year so we have looked up a possible date of 26th June starting from CMC at Clay Cross, 10.00am meet for 10.30 start as usual, and going over the Nottinghamshire side instead of the Peak district and ending at Gunthorpe bridge. Is there anyone interested?
John & Andy.

I'm away for the week starting 26th June . But that obviously shouldn't stop you - makes little sense to consider changing for one person.

Oh right I mean, this afternoon you want a mate to ride along to the run with you, then you knock him back for some club 18-late forties sun drenched beer fest, no offence taken....well, not much anyway

Put me down, I was thinking of doing a GAv gets back on a big bike run, however maybe try that in short easy stages, like going to the Wednesday evening meets at Great Bentley. my Dad came from Derby, Allerston, and regailed me as a youngster with stories of he his brother and best friend cycling to Castle Donnington, watching the Mercedes and Auto Union Silver Arrows trouncing the ERAs and Italian Maseratti and Alfa Romeos, why not. I took his best mate I sometimes stayed with in Darley Abbey to the Donnington Collection, and on a visit previously staying with Dad's stepsister in Allerstry after a look around the Wheatcroft Collection, heard the sound of a high pitched racing engine, and it was Alan Jones in the 002 (I think ) Williams and someone else watching said oh there is next years World Champ, so it was 1979.
Jerry my Dad's best friend also suggested we go to the Derby Museum, wherein was a Rolls Royce Griffin engine sectioned and he said dear boy you are the first person in my experience to make itgo( by electric motors) so I said that's all very well but how does it stop. A Curater sauntered over and said do not worry, it is on a time switch. He showed us a room with an RB111 engine and recounted tales of how RR fired a frozen chicken into the blades which promptly disintegrated, the blades that is and the Chicken remained reasonably in tact.
Also of course Norton are now based in Castle Donnington.
If you will excuse me the indulgence if you are going into Nottinghamshire, although my Mum was born in Kingston Upon Hull , her parents moved to firstly to West Bridgeford and then to Radcliffe on Trent wherein the Parish Church my parents married
I haven't done anything about her ashes, however maybe scatter some up there, and as I had to reluctantly bail out of the X9 Clubs Annual Northern Bash to Whitby, this very weekend, but are doing Cornwall in July and between 1957 and 1967 nearly ever year we went there on holiday.

As it's the Derby run, keep it in Derbyshire. They better get very creative with the route then Dave as most of Derbyshire is a 50mph zone.

I have just been to CMC to check all is ok to start from there on Sunday as it is 2 stroke day, and Ross the Boss has kindly agreed, and will reserve the area closest to the parking area exit along the side of the showroom for us. He has asked us to use that area and reverse park up to the showroom to make departure easier if there is any congestion but otherwise all is ok. So see you on Sunday.
