If you see the problem again, check that the levers you have on are genuine - cheapo chinese ones can cause the symptoms you describe due to a very small difference in the lever casting (or forging, or dimensions on a CNC'd lever)

It says manufacturer Suzuki, model GS, but then oposite to fit; Yamaha. I think they are pretty much universal(but I could be wrong)

Cool, I'll get that and a bottle of dot4 and hopefully it might sort everything out for around 25 quid!!
I think the master cylinder is the original unless it was changed for a pattern part many many years ago when the bile was relatively new... but then the problem would have arose many times already and been sorted...

I got sick of the OEM brakes pogo effect so when the pads wore out I fitted R6 blue spots and master cylinder with two braided hoses and one double banjo at the master cylinder. It was the best mod I made to the bike. Powerful of course but more importantly the blue spots are very controllable. Two week after fitting a stupid girl ran into the road right in front of me. I very nearly stopped -she bounced off the fairing - but no harm done. The front wheel had left a skid mark. The old brakes would have taken me down and the girl with me.

I had a problem with the front brake on my GSX250 locking on. I stripped down the caliper countless times, changed the brake hose and fitted new seals in the master cylinder. It was eventually traced to a miniscule piece of dirt trapped in the fluid release port in the master cylinder. This is a really, really small hole at the base of the fluid reservior which prevents an airlock when you release the brake lever. Took ages to identify it, then a friend of a friend suggested it and gave me a piece of really thin wire (think it was a bit of a guitar string) to poke through it. Cleared the hole, never had another problem with the brakes.
