Are the front mounts fully welded yet? IMHO it would look neater with the engine plates bolted through the frame with tubes welded through to prevent the frame tubes collapsing.

Personally I cant see much point in that its just extra work for not much gain.

not only that it would interfere greatly with my plans for the forward controls

Why would that be? Surely a hardtail chop is all about how it looks.
Welding bolt tubes through the frame is easy enough and it looks like the engine plates would fit between the downtubes rather than on outside. But I can only go by the spacers it has at this moment
Just my 2p to avoid having engine plates bolted to frame plates and too many spacers.

Forward footrest hangers cobbled together just need welding in. bolts will obviously be replaced with some decent forwards.

After battling with a rather old stiff tyre & inner tube, 5 mins with the angry grinder and I had the rear wheel in a few bits ready for a brand new rim, spokes, bearings and seals. Sending the hub away for aqua blasting too. I just hope I can lace it up again!! ;D
