Hi
I am doing some servicing and updating on Davina my D9. Changed the exhaust as mine has rusted out in various places, changed the oil and filter, and renewed the drive oil. I want to go over to braided hoses as mine has the standard ones and I have no way of knowing when they were last changed if at all as the previous owner did all his own maintenance and never kept any records (may never have actual done any maintenance for all I know but the oil was clean coming out of it and it had a proper Yamaha oil filter on it). I was thinking of buying a BTR Braided Steel Brake Hose Kit of Ebay. Anybody had experience with these kits? Are they any good? Also my bike is a P reg but was registered in april 97. There seems to be two kits one for 94-96MY and the other for 97-03MY. I am assuming my bike is the earlier model 94-96? Do you think I should contact the guy selling them and ask up to which chassis number the 94-96 brake hoses fit or can you guys give a more definitive answer? You get two types of parts person one who really knows his job and one who does not and I cannot be bothered with faffing about sending stuff back because half way through the job I find out that I needed the other set!
Cheers
John

Do you have separate hoses to your calipers? Or is there a link pipe between them and one running from the master cylinder? My 97 registered, but 96 model has separate hoses. I replaced these with a HEL set of lines, and have had no problems.

just buy the two lines from master to each caliper,
it matters not whether its an early or late model!

Hi
It has separate pipes to each calliper. So which set should I buy? The 97-03MY set?
Cheers

I used Goodridge on mine - a full set front and rear. Worked a treat.

Get a double banjo bolt for the master cylinder. Even better get a Fazer 600 master cyl as it improves the brake feel and control. Run a pair of hoses from top to bottom. The LHS will need a longer hose.
Use some stiff electric wire to get accurate measurement and order eye to eye. Get hoses with a swivel at one end so no worries about them getting twisted. The RHS runs straight down. The LHS runs under top yoke and then down to the brake.
I used a self assembly hose system with olives and captive nuts but a set of Goodrich made to measure is no more costly and MUCH easier.
