any one found a cheaper source of intake rubbers, that go between the carbs and heads?
they seem a lot of cash for the rubbers at Fowlers!

sorted this one on mine. You need some 43mm silicone hose and two jubilee clips per inlet.Remove the rubbers from the top of the manifold.Grind/file the flange off nice and carefully, then cut some 35-40mm collars from the silicone tube and clamp back on with a clip on the carb and one in the tube..........Simples..

This is now sorted, well it will be by tomorrow night, it was for the person that bought my D9, it was running a little fluffy when cold, but it had got much worse over the months, heavy on fuel and difficult if not impossible to start when warm, he ordered the carb rubbers, but they managed to send 4 right hand rubbers, so a couple of weeks ago I replaced the right two, and temporarily wiped around the outside of the remaining two with silicone, but when I had the carbs off I noticed a couple of the inlet tracts were full of fuel, so I cleaned all the seats of the float needle valves and reset the fuel level slightly lower, once back together it was running like new, the other two will be fitted late tomorrow, they were well past needing replaced, but the owner was well chuffed at how much better it was running!

Do you mean put the silicone hoses over the originals? Otherwise silicone hoses will need a smaller hose inside to give a smooth bore that doesn't step up after the carbs and back down again into the head. Narrow band clips work better than the standard stuff usually found in Halfords etc.

You use the silicone hose instead of the origanal rubbers .once you grind off the flange on the inlet stubs .the hose fits over this and is the right bore for the carbs.done this mod on three bikes plus mine and £15 is a damn sight bettet than £250

Agree its a much better cost, but surely the inside is stepped with a plain hose. The originals have a thicker mid section so the air flow isnt so disturbed. A second smaller silicone hose inside the 43mm would probably fill the step and still cost boogerall.

Mine are pretty skanky at the moment, what do you expect for a 1995 bike.. Searching on ebay i managed to find a set from a 2002 bike, waaay better condition then mine. I ask asked a few sellers if they had any, on asked for £20 for each rubber.. Another asked for £25 for all rubbers, manifolds, clamps, pipes and screws. SOLD. So.. next job is to fit them Took some measurements if it helps anyone.. Step.. Although with the carbs fitted in, wouldn't this sit flush with both airways..

My Suzuki GT has stepped inlet rubbers that give a smooth run out of the carbs but the inlet ports are quite a bit smaller. Rough if not poor design I'm sure could be easily improved. But then again it's a stroker. Sent from a widget that can't spell.
