... If you were reading this thread as a D9 owner and suffered some mild shock to your sensibilites at the sight of a reference to a D6 I can only apologise, no offense was intended Well I'm an ex-D9 owner & I was shocked, I can tell you . As it happens, I sorted a dodgy fork leg on my Tranny yesterday but I wouldn't dream about mentioning it here :

Love the improvised fork props. Why do I think of Long John Silver Proper bodging that is. As opposed to me who blew a main fuse on the Fazer refitting the battery after a charge (shorted the pos + terminal against the frame )

Why am I getting unattached caliper flashbacks Not sure, but a reliance on old memories points to senile dementia .

Both wheels removed, bearings knocked out and tyres taken off. They are now down at the powder coaters for a nice shiny black finish. That should upset a few sensibilities.

Why am I getting unattached caliper flashbacks Didn't that lead to a broken fairing?

Why am I getting unattached caliper flashbacks Didn't that lead to a broken fairing? Nah, not that time. That wasn't unattached, just disconnected.

Released stuck pivot bolt, refitted the swing arm, old pivot bolt in hand tight, until the new one arrives, next job is to run the new braided brake lines. Probably not until the new year though.

Well , not today but Monday, I, like a big div, unfortunately left my heated grips on low heat when I came in from work and this morning my battery was dead flat- not a bean in it DOH!!!!!!!!!!! So after ripping all my gear off which takes ages in a morning , decided - No - was forced to go to work in me car.
Lesson from this - Connect your heated grips to a switched wire and not direct to your battery.

If its really dead flat, you might need an Optimate to recover that battery.

Mine recovered a totally dead gel cell battery that went on to start my mother's lawn mower for a year. Vibration killed it poor thing.

I fitted shiny new swing arm bearings to my D900, reassembled it all and had a quick test ride before the roads iced over. This was after repainting the swing arm and shock with hammerite and regreasing the linkages.

New pivot bolt has arrived, AJ Sutton.co.uk, 4 working days after sending me an e-mail to say the part was out of stock and could take up to 20 days and did I still want it. So second time luckly with the rebuild.

Wheels newly powder coated in shiny black are now back on the bike and very smart they are too. The back brake calliper is seizing up (again) so that's another job. I wonder if a blue spot could be persuaded to fit the back end. They seem to be much more reliable.
