However, the only way to do this is to undo the union from the front calliper. Knowing how fragile bleed nipples can be I thought better of it as I need the bike to get to work this afternoon. Bikes without front brakes are not a good thing. No.
I don't think you'd need to undo the hose from the caliper, should be possible to just drop the fork out after taking the wheel off and bring it around the other side. I like the phrase 'should be be possible to just drop the fork'. You make it sound so simple.

I like the phrase 'should be be possible to just drop the fork'. You make it sound so simple. Well you'd need to take the wheel off first but after that you should be able to get enough clearance between the fork and yokes slackened off to slide the hose back round to where it should be if all's ok!

Its funny seeing that 100k picture! I remember taking the same picture with mine, the Diversion was the first (well only so far!) bike I took around the clock. I'm thinking about sticking on a little digit in front of the 40k to show the true mileage!

respect mate , on to the next 100 eh. mines just gone over 40,000 i feel a failure ;-( Will be interesting to see how close the bike gets to the next 100k. Sometimes think a bike with low miles would be better. Its funny seeing that 100k picture! I remember taking the same picture with mine, the Diversion was the first (well only so far!) bike I took around the clock. I'm thinking about sticking on a little digit in front of the 40k to show the true mileage! Seems strange to look at the odometer to see a low miles reading .. but the condition of the bike shows it's gone over the mark!

Bluespots, uprated master cylinder and stainless steel braided lines. Stops a bit better now.

Bluespots, uprated master cylinder and stainless steel braided lines. Stops a bit better now. Great stuff . Find the blue spots don't stop the bike that much quicker than the originals (is it me??), but the blue spots don't have the on-off feel of the originals when applying the brakes.

Changed the oil, and filters (oil, fuel, and air)
I found the bleed screw on the oil way at the top of the cylinder head intriguing. Never come across that before.
Also checked the spark plug gaps. All ok as they were only put in 3,000 miles ago. The only annoying thing is that I lent out my metric feeler gauges some time ago (why do I keep on lending out tools, when will i Learn?), and only just remembered they had not been returned. So for those interested. 0.8mm is 32 thou.
Was going to tune up the carbs, but the nice brown colour of the spark plugs leads me to believe all is ok. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I have noticed that I will require a clutch cable soon though.

Put the engine back in the frame with Tajana (its the second time she's done this with me now!) and refitted the shaft and swingarm with a new swingarm bearing greasing both up - I think the inspection seal was letting water in leading to one of them rusting up so that'll want replacing too. Should have it all back together and running by the end of the weekend after having it apart to replace the gearbox. Looking forward to riding it again as have been working on it and off for the last four months in the garage!

Got round to doing something about the road rash on my fairing, thought I would try some reflective tape on it, one of the guys at work has it on his bike and it looks quite effective at getting you seen in the dark. And lit up by the puny flash on my phone: Not sure, hopefully it's much more effective in the dark

i want to do the r6 caliper thing ,is it not worth it really ?? Adding the blue spots has been worthwhile as there seems to be better feedback on braking through the brake lever. My calipers came from the 600 Thundercat, a much lighter bike than the Divvie. Perhaps that's why it feels the blue-spotted Divvie has a similar stopping distance as the original calipers.

Inspired by M40Man and Chuck's lead I angle grinded off the shock linkage to replace it with a super clean Fazer 600 replacement which cost all of £20! A bit messier and more time consuming than I hoped it would be but at least its done now, the noise the old one was making was disturbing indeed - have probably gained an extra inches ride height now too! Only one bother - having cut through the seized bolt I realised that the Fazer frame bolt is a couple of inches shorter than the Diversion one and had nothing to fill its place with. Reckon I'll get some steel threaded bar as a temporary measure as looks like the Yamaha bit is back order only. Presumably its high tensile for this sort of thing?

Blue/gold/silver/whatever, sometimes known as Sumitomo, as used on many Yamaha models up to the present day. Exceptions that I can think of offhand are the earlier FZ6, the XJ6 and MT-03, all of which have two-pot sliding calipers similar to the D9, and the newer sporty models which now have radially-mounted ones. The "blue spots" are all much the same, though the earlier ones (e.g. Thundercat) with external pipes can be trickier to bleed. Crucially, all have the same (100mm I think) mounting bolt hole centres as the D9.
You can use a R1/R6/Thundercat master cylinder with the separate reservoir, but one from e.g. a Fazer, with integral reservoir as on the D9, will be easier to mount. Some people have actually used the original D9 master cylinder successfully.

Fitted a replacement oil coooler from China which was easier to do than I thought it'd be (those screen well nuts make me hate removing the fairing.) Though I'd run it without cooler for the last 1000 miles or so since doing my gearbox rebuild at least now I don't need to worry about overheating! Painted the pipes with some high temp exhaust stuff with loctite rust remedy underneath so hopefully won't sprout rust as before, already cut out the original hose bit just put on some better quality stainless clips (cheap ones I bought last time furred and seized in no time) and black fabric braided fuel hose. 65 miles later and it all seems happy with no leaks to report!

How much was it and where did you source it? Hi it was from 'LP moto parts' a seller on Ebay, about £60 when I bought it back in March and probably the same as the ones being sold by Euro sellers for £150! They don't seem to have one in their Ebay shop at the moment but perhaps they can still get them if you ask? Quality looked fine to me. I just wish I hadn't thrown away the bracket with the old one!
