I removed my left fairing ready to send it the bodyshop to be stitched together - turns out previous owner was not a great repairer. Also replaced the seat with one I bought from ebay. Got new discs, pads and seals allround, ready to fit them this bank holiday. Wife's away with kids so I can clean everything in dishwasher......finally!

... Balanced my throttle bodies on my XJ6 Careful with that warranty Sir, home servicing . Last night I fitted my new air filter. This afternoon I serviced front brakes (pots out for a scrub, found a dust seal missing - did Trev ever own this bike ?) & also learnt that PO had resprayed the calipers. Brake cleaner soon took care of that . ........ all this on a D9 of course .

Pulled the dust-sheet off it (D6). Fired it up and left it to tick over till the oil pipes to the cooler were hot. Shut it down and promised i would take it out for a run tomorrow. Honest.

Rode the Diversion to a friend who has his own engineering setup at home. He had made me a replacement connector for the end of the choke cable to connect to the choke linkage on the carbs. Beautiful job, works perfectly. Amazing what a 3d design programme and some clever engineering can acomplish.

New taller screen fitted.
New grips
Found its a pain to get to the battery as the screw to the cover is under the side fairing.

Sorry to hear of the damage. The good news is that the centre stand can be welded back together.
When my D900's stand split a few years back I took it to a local engineering shop. He welded it and strengthened it for a £10.
So remember that old song from the Monty Python movie.

Didn't exactly to all of this today, but my D9 is back on the road and running nicely after a lengthy layoff. New rear disc, pads, caliper seals and bleed nipples, spark plugs, oil, oil filter, drive oil, air filter, exhaust seals 3 new/changed valve shims. Derusted exhaust, crash bars, swing arm Repainted crash bars, swing arm, rear caliper Balanced the carbs Straightened fairing subframe and fibreglassed behind front fairing crack Well chuffed with myself as I am not a natural with the spanners - I really enjoyed pottering around the garage sorting things as well. The only help I needed was getting the old rear disc off - in the end three of the bolts had to be drilled out. It was quite an expensive operation as I needed quite a few new tools and had none of the required paints/cleaners/oils/greases, but I am now all equipped for next time Special thanks to bobh who kindly supplied an air box and 2 shims for next to nothing. Just the heated grips to get sorted now, off to source a posi-tap ...

New oil filter. Changed the oil. Checked front pads. Cleaned the air filter. Had a cup of tea Checked state of plugs and checked the gaps, all OK. Checked rear pads. Checked and lubricated cables as required. Lubricated, center stand, side stand, gear change lever, brake lever and anything else i could find that looked like it could pivot/move. Had another cup of tea Window fitters in today, so i will take for a ride to see Sean tomorrow.

Sounds ideal Dave
Mine is in the garage and although I missed the call from my mucker Shane the mechanic I recon I might be ordering a sandy bike spare full 4 into 1 exhaust on the sharpish after talking to him in the morning! Gulp!

Hi all, New to the club. Bought a XJ 600 Diversion S 1996 model last week so thought I would join up. Paid £500 for her. She has done 11700 odd miles. No history or much paperwork other than a couple of MOT certs. A recent one up to April 2012 and one from 2009/10. Bike in fairly good condition other than fuel tank which has been vandalised. Scratches etc... On getting it home gave it a check over and found a few jobs required so today I got stuck in. Replaced Plugs and cleaned carbs. Renewed rear wheel bearings, both sprockets and chain. Just oil and filter left. New back tyre still required. Regards
