I may be missing something here but most of the regular posters do not seem to be agreeing with Insurance. Yet the poll indicated they were. I'll not go into details about what I perceive you are missing I miss you too Trev.

this handing over 'management' i think, has been mentioned previously. without wishing to upset current peeps.. if they were to leave the posts, what exactly would any new person, have to actually do to run the site, as is?? and would there be any takers?? what are the pros and cons of running the site? (except for checking contents and barring tj ) I presume that there are some proboard rules to follow.

So your proposing that we should thank the current management team for all their hard work so far, but recognise that it is time for the current management to move on, extricate themselves from all legals to do with the club and set up and invite new management to take on that responsibility, Is that correct? If that's what it needs to get out of this fiasco. Sad to say but it may be the only option in the end. If they insist on Insurance/ membership fees many of us will leave. If they hand it over we could continue as is and they can, should they wish, remain as members. That of course depends on people taking over and the current encumbents being willing to hand it over. They may be happy to see some of us leave. 'Appen. But change has occured before, MSN/TJ63, the forum evolves.

They may be happy to see some of us leave. I has been said it would be nice to hear from the mods, well here goes. 1st off I wouldn`t be happy to see any member leave, in fact I don`t like the way this has caused so much hassle for the members. We have lost 1 member over this and that is 1 to many. I personally am not insisting on any one taking out any membership in fact I dont like the idea of going down the formal route of membership fees and all the crap that would involve. The only thing I am insisting on, knowing about the ongoing case that Jen mentioned is that I myself for my own piece of mind have insurance. Why ? well I have lost both of my parents in a 9 month period and had to pay for 2 funerals and clear more debt than I could afford, that was not my parents but they put there name on it. Solicitors I have a list that of them I would like to ******** to. I have seen just how clever and devious they can be and on the advice of another about this hole club/insurance matter until the ongoing case is thrown out of court he advised me to pay the £9 insurance. Now I don`t want to feed the insurance/solicitor piggy banks no more than any other but I can now ill afford any more legal fees, so if the BMF mentioned insurance for my £9 would work then I would have paid it, but not just blindly I may add as I would have wanted to see the terms/conditions and hoops we would have to jump through. It has been asked if the current management would be prepared to step aside and let some one else who is prepared to take on the risk to take over. Well I can and am only speaking for myself when I say YES. It may solve a few problems that you guys have but it will solve a big one for me and on that note I am now just an ordinary member.

Many thanks for the years you have done such excellent work Paul, sorry about the loss of your parents,
It's not been that good a year either in the penfold household,
Bab's father dieing, and since then I spent 6 months travelling to Morpeth mental hospital to see a close relative, has certainly curtailed my biking activity this year!

I know how Reaper feels getting ripped off by the legal profession. My Mum's estate was charged 3% and there is zilch we can do about it. He hasn't even got documentary evidence that she agreed to that cost but there's still nothing we can do. So much for the legal ombudsman.
The insurance cost has Im sure was quoted well over £100 - £135 maybe but that's guessing.
Exactly what are the requirements of the BMF insurance what details have to be completed for each run and what restrictions are placed on the runners? I still hate the idea but if its £9 would be less fussed about it.

+1 Absolutely. After the last 18 months with my mother's end of life I can understand what Reaper has been through. Rest in peace all of them.
A couple of questions, I hope not insensitive at this point - Where has the £9 insurance fee come from? What is the ongoing legal case mentioned in post 393?

Attn. Reaper
Sorry to hear about your decision but can understand your feelings, but if anyone has earned enough brownie points to bow out and retire gracefully with full honours its you. As for the comments regarding yourself as an ordinary member of YDC, that’s tripe. As far as Andy, myself, and I would say a good few others connected with YDC, will always regard you as far from an ordinary member, and extend mega thanks for services rendered over the years (don’t forget there are some of us that can remember the days when you rode a divvy).
Sorry to hear about your recent bereavement, you have our sympathies and best wishes. I lost both my parents within 6 months a long time ago and the pain never goes down with time, you just get more used to it.
BTW I bought the Panasonic tz30 on your recommendations and am well satisfied. Not managed to get my head round all instructions yet so only running at 20% of its capabilities but it’s still a great piece of kit and the biz.
John & Andy

Can we assume this thread is now abandoned? Newer threads have started over moving on, changing logo and 'nominating' successors, whatever that might bring.

I doubt any of us (I certainly dont) really know just how much work Paul and Jenny have put into this website. I just want to say thank you to both for all you have done. Its very much appreciated.
As for being ordinary members? Absolutely not! You will never be ordinary.
